Objective:Base on the clinical datasets, to analyze femoral condylar fractures retrospectively, to explore the causes of complications in-depth, and to summarize the experiences in internal fixation of femoral condyle fracture in order to guide the future clinical treatment. Methods:In the retrospective article, we analyzed 79 cases of femoral condylar fracture patients who had received surgical operations in our hospital from January 2011 to July 2015, and be followed up for full period. Which including 56 males, mean age 37.8(8-76), and 23 females, mean age 58.8(26-73); All patients were classified by injury: car accident injury 47 cases(59.5%), falls 14 cases(17.7%), falls injury in 9 cases(11.4%), heavy injured in seven cases(8.9%), wounded two cases(2.5%); and by AO fracture classification: A-type 37 cases(46.8%), B-type 13 cases(16.5%), C-type 29 cases(36.7%). All patients were experienced careful examinations and surgical planning before operation, and received appropriate effective operation according to the type of fracture fixation, furthermore, postoperative active rehabilitation practice and regular follow-up also required. Results:The mean follow-up period was 20.6 months(8-53m), 77 patients were healed at the end of follow-up except 1 case was delayed union fractures and 1 case was Re-fracture. All patients assessed by the HSS knee function scoring system, excellent 50 cases, good 20 cases, fair 6 cases, and poor 3 cases, good rate was 88.6%. While in 8 cases of Hoffa fractures, 3 cases were excellent, 2 cases were good, 2 cases were fair and 1 case was poor. Conclusions:Selecting the appropriate internal fixation and correct internal fixation principle based on the type of fracture is the basic treatment principles for femoral condyle fracture. For comminuted condyle fracture and senile condylar fracture, sufficient transplanted bone on the fractured ends during operation and paying attention to knee function rehabilitation after operation is the fundamental direction to improve the efficacy of treatment for femoral condyle fracture.
