Objective To investigate nutritional risk of hospitalized children, the occurrence status of nutritional risk in Fuzhou city, and the comparison of application effect between Screening Tool for Risk of Nutrition in Growth Kids(STRONGkids) and Screening Tool for the Assessment of Malnutrition in Pediatrics(STAMP).Method The hospitalized children who were admitted to the department of pediatric of The First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University dated from March 2014 to June 2015 were included. The results screened by STAMP and STRONGkids were analyzed.Result 977 hosptalized children were included, in which, there were 372(38.08%) high nutritional risk cases, and 605(61.92%) low nutritional risk cases.,when we used the STAMP. There were 94(9.62%) high nutritional risk cases,764(78.2%) medium nutritional risk cases, and 119(12.18%) low nutritional cases when we used the STRONGkids. Children with younger age were more likely to be at risk of high nutritional risk. The incidence of high nutritional risk in patients with complication was significantly higher than the children without complications. Based on the NCHS/ WHO reference standard of marginal malnutrition, we made an evaluation of the STRONGkids, the area under the ROC curve was 0.654, the sensitivity and specificity were 71.10%, 52.62% respectively of the STRONGkids when we set the cut-off point in2.And the sensitivity and specificity of STAMP were 35.14% and 59.07% respectively in the same standard. Conclusion The nutritional risk screening tool can help us screen the patients with nutritional problem, evaluate their nutritional situation and administrate reasonable treatment in time. STRONGkids had good performance in sensitivity, specificity and effective, which is suited as a nutritional risk screening tool for hospitalized children.
