With the development of wireless communication technology and sensor chip, wireless sensor network has a high speed development and widespread applications. In recent years, wireless sensor networks(WSN) has been widely used in environmental monitoring, industrial monitoring, traffic and medical fields. Gateway is an important part of the wireless sensor network(WSN) application system, traditional gateway may face more and more problems.The gateway used in smart home, industrial applications and environmental monitoring fields has two main functions. The traditional gateway has the basic function of connecting heterogeneous networks often lack application innovation. In this paper, we propose a new intelligent gateway on the basis of general telemedicine gateway with fall detection function.For the gateway has fall detection function in this paper, we do the following work:Analysis and research the current development of domestic and foreign remote medical monitoring applications and the gateway used in remote medical monitoring system. Due to the development of wireless sensors and communication technology, we will make more demands on gateway. Aiming at the shortages of the traditional gateway, we propose a remote medical monitoring system intelligent gateway. It has fall detection and physiological parameters monitoring functions.This paper propose improvement fall detection algorithm base on the existing fall detection algorithm with acceleration. The algorithm can effectively monitor fall events in real time and can give an alarm with more information. This algorithm compute the three-axis direction acceleration values was collected by portable sensors and analysis the ECG data, blood pressure. It can find the fall due to cardiovascular disease and give detail information about the fall event. By comparison with another fall detection algorithm based on acceleration, we verify the feasibility and accuracy of the algorithm.Finally, this paper presents the modular design of the main functions. we achieved the protocol conversion module, address translation module, data processing module, gateway application management platform. We also simulate the ZigBee data packet and GPRS packet and define the gateway internal packet format. Finally we achieve a major intelligent gateway function and verify the feasibility of the proposed fusion fall detection. we also certified the feasibility of the intelligent gateways.
