Objective:To systematically compare changes in clinical symptoms and laboratory indexes between patients who received the plasma exchange(PE) treatment group and those who did not, to compare changes in the level of triglyceride before and after PE treatment, and to observe the therapeutic effect that plasma exchange has on the hyperlipidemia pancreatitis.Method:We retrospectively analyze clinical data on hyperlipidemia pancreatitis from January, 2010 to January, 2015. A total of 90 patients were divided into two groups based on whether or not they received the plasma exchange treatment. We first compared these two groups based on the length of hospital stay, mortality, morbidity and other factors. We then looked specifically at patients who received the plasma exchange treatment. We then compared the level of triglycerides before and after the treatment. We also compared the mortality and morbidity rates of patients with severe pancreatitis(Ranson scores ?3).Lastly, we compared the results of TG levels, hospital length of stay, and mortality rates in subgroups which received the plasma exchang therapy within 24 h and after 24 h.Result:1. There was statistically significant difference in intensive care unit length of stay, system complication incidence, recurrence rate, and mortality rate between patients who received the PE treatment and those who did not while no statistically significant difference was found in HLOS, local complication incidence.2. Statistically significant difference in TG levels before and after the PE treatment was found.3. There was a statistically significant difference in TG level between patients who received PE treatment and those who did not after a week.4. Mortality rate and system complication in patients with severe pancreatitis(Ranson scores ?3) were statistically significant difference, no difference in local complication.5. There was no statistically significant difference in triglycerides level within 24 and after 24 hours of treatment but the difference between HLOS and mortality rate was statistically significant. Conclusion:Plasma exchange is associated with a higher rate of recovery in patients with severe hyperlipidemia pancreatitis complications as PE significantly lowers the level of triglyceride. Furthermore, early PE treatment could reduce HLOS and mortality rate.
