Objectives To investigate the protective effect of metabolic surgery on the pancreatic injury induced by STZ in rats. Methods 50 rats were randomly divided into five groups:A normal control group,B stzinjured group,C surgery group, D surgery-injured group,E injured-surgery group, rats of A do not do any processing,The B were induced via intraperitoneal injection of STZ at days 7, The C underwent duodenal jejunal bypass surgery at days 1.The D were induced at days 7and underwent surgery at days 14.The E were underwent surgery at days 1 and were induced at days 7.Non-fasting blood glucose, OGTT, plasma C peptide and TNF was measured. Results At 7th day after injection of STZ, blood glucose of B,D,E groups was higher than the A group's(P<0.05) while there plasma C peptide were lower and TNF were higher than normal control group's(P<0.05).there Oral glucose tolerance were worse than the A group's. Islet pathologic injury of B,D,E groups appeared more serious than the A group's.There was no significant change of postoperative blood glucose(P>0.05),plasma C peptide(P>0.05),TNF(P>0.05) between D and B. Islet pathologic injury of B appeared as serious as D.Oral glucose tolerance was as bad as D.Blood glucose level of E group was lower than D(P<0.05), and the plasma c peptide waw higher than D(P<0.05), the TNF of E wae lowee than D(P<0.05). Oral glucose tolerance of E was batter than D. The islet pathologic injury appeared more batter than D.Conclusions metabolic surgery has a protective effect on the injury of pancreatic injury. The mechanism may be related to the inhibition of the inflammatory response of the pancreas by metabolic surgery.
