Objective To study the epidemiological features of true pancreatic cyst and its diagnosis and treatment in mainland China during the last 20 years. Methods Reports on true pancreatic cyst published from 1995 to 2014 were retrieved from various databases, such as China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),VIP,Wanfang Data. The epidemiological features of true pan creatic cyst and its diagnosis, treatment were analyzed. Results A total of 266 patients with true pancreatic cyst were reported in mainland China during the last 20 years. The male to female ratio was approximately 0.76:1.The average ages and accurate ages were reported in 248 cases, the average age of them was 46.25 years, the mean age from 35 to 55 years old was accounted 62.33%of the total number of cases.60.9% of the cases were located in East China and North China. The patients who had no symptoms were often discovered in other diseases during imaging examination. Abdominal pain was the main clinical manifestation and it was found in 27.68% of the patients. 60.30% of the cases were found at pancreatic body and tail. Surgical resection was the main procedure for the treatment of true pancreatic cyst. Conclusion True pancreatic cyst was mainly found in young and middle aged female in East and North China. Due to the nonspecific clinical manifestations and the different imaging charactors, it was difficult to diagnose true pancreatic cyst preoperatively and definite diagnosis of most of patients needed to rely on pathology.Surgical resection which could provide a good prognosis was regarded as the main procedure for the treatment of true pancreatic cyst.
