| Objective:Bacteria highly conserved regions of 16 S r RNA gene sequence alignment technology is one of the bacteria rapid identification technology, 16 S r RNA Real-time reverse transcription PCR technique in the diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infection is unclear, this study aimed to investigate its diagnosis efficiency.MethodsA prospective study of 43 patients who had a total joint arthroplasty(TJA) and were undergoing a reoperation because of periprosthetic joint infection(23 patients) or non-infective(20 patients) was conducted. The 16 S r RNA in interface membrane were detected by real-time reverse transcription PCR as a marker to diagnose PJI. At the same time, the synovial fluid were routine bacterial culture. We compared the sensitivity and specificity of two methods.ResultsThe sensitivity of 16 S r RNA Real-time reverse transcription PCR is higher than the conventional bacterial culture. There was no difference in the specificity and PPV and NPV.ConclusionsThe sensitivity of 16 S r RNA Real-time reverse transcription PCR is higher than the conventional bacterial culture. |
