Objective: Compare and analyze the clinical features of patients of different age groups with gastric cancer in the gender composition, starting symptoms, tumor location, surgical, pathological type, Borrmann type, TNM stage and prognosis. To explore the clinical characteristics of young and aged gastric cancer respectively, to provide theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of gastric cancer. Methods: Collect a total of 115 patients with advanced gastric cancer in Gastrointestinal Surgery of First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University by gastroscope and upper gastrointestinal barium meal examination and confirmed by pathology or open operation, between January 2011 and December 2011.Age 45 years of age or less youth gastric cancer patients is defined as the young group, at the age of 65 or higher in patients with gastric cancer is defined as the elderly group, excluding other parts of the patients with primary malignant tumors. Retrospectively analyze the clinical features on two groups in gender composition, starting symptoms, tumor location, surgical, pathological classification, Borrmann type, TNM stage and prognosis.Results:(1) Gender composition:In elderly group male ratio is higher, female ratio of young group is significantly higher than the elderly group. The difference between the two groups is statistically significant(P < 0.05).(2) Clinical symptoms:The main symptoms on two groups are both abdominal pain discomfort,in the elderly group more patients with dysphagia symptom.(3)Tumor location:The cardia of stomach bottom rate in elderly group patients is significantly higher than the youth, but incidence of gastric antrum is lower. The difference is statistically significant(P < 0.05).(4) Borrmann type:Elderly group is given priority to with ??? type, youth is given priority to with ?, ? type;Youth ?, ? ratio is higher than the elderly group.(5)Pathological type:Young low differentiated stomach cancer, mucous adenocarcinoma and signet ring cell carcinoma was significantly higher than that of elderly group, the elderly group is given priority to with high differentiated adenocarcinoma.(6)TNM stage:Both groups with ?, ? period mainly, but ? period ratio of the youth is higher than the elderly group, the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).(7)Surgical:Two groups of patients both undergo surgery treatment. Radical resection of elderly group is higher than young group, but the number of non-radical treatment is less than youth. The difference is statistically significant.(8)Prognosis:Elderly group 1, 3 year survival rate is higher than that of youth. Conclusion: The young and the elderly gastric cancer in the gender composition, starting symptoms, tumor location, surgical, pathological type, Borrmann type, TNM stage and prognosis, etc have different features. To youth gastric cancer the proportion of women is high, the symptoms are lack of specificity, the course of disease is short, progress is quick, the lesion at the distal is more, infiltrating force is strong, cancerous tissue differentiate poorly and malignant degree is high. Compared with the elderly, radical resection rate is relatively low, and prognosis is poor. To see more elderly gastric cancer in men, cardia gastric lesions to see more, infiltrating ability is weak, and malignant degree is relatively low, relatively good prognosis to youth gastric cancer. Early detection, early diagnosis and early radical surgery is the key to improve stomach curative effect, prognosis, and survival rate to the youth.
