Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Hua zhuo xing xue,traditional Chinese prescription, in patients with transient ischemic attack.Methods: Randomized controlled trials were identified from the Cochrane library clinical trial registry, Pubmed, Embase, Chinese biomedical literature database, China academic journal full-text database, and Wanfang database. Publications of the randomized controlled trials on the treatment of transient ischemic attack with hua zhuo xing xue fang were included. We also hand searched the references of all eligible articles and related previous review articles. According to the inclusion criteria,two reviewers independently screened abstracts, assessed the quality of those included studies and extracted data from included studies.Evaluation indicators include:(1)before and three months after treatment transient ischemic attack;(2)the cure rate;(3)adverse effect.Results: Three randomized controlled trials involving 245 patients with transient ischemic attack were included. All the trials were done in China. Systematic review indicated that:(1)Hua zhuo xing xue fang treated patients with transient ischemic attack had a statistically significant reduction in transient ischemic attack times(WMD=-2.00, 95%CI(-2.41,-1.58),P<0.00001).(2)In addition, hua zhuo xing xue fang did not increase the incidence of adverse effects.Conclusion: Hua zhuo xing xue fang can reduce transient ischemic attack times in patients. And it does not increase any adverse effects than control. But due to the limited randomized controlled trials of high quality, more clinical researches with large sample, multicenter,randomized and double-blind should be taken in the future.
