Objectives : To investigate the expression of serum MicroRNA-29 b and MMP-9 in patients of nonvalular atrial fibrillation.To discuss the possible mechanism of atrial remodeling and find the potential biomarker in atrial fibrillation.Methods:1) Case-control study was done on 82 cases of patients treated in the first affiliated hospitalof University of South China from March 2015 to September 2015, which were divided into atrial fibrillation group(51 cases) and control group of sinus rhythm(31 cases)according to the patients` medical history and electrocardiogram results.2) The venous blood samples were collected in the next morning.The routine blood test, liver and kindey function, blood cholesterol,hcy,were tested in clinical laboratory of the first affiliated hospital of University of South China. LAD?LVEF were measured in Echocardiography department of the first affiliated hospital of university of South China. The serum samples were taken and kept in-80 ?refrigerator. The serum MicroRNA-29 b level were tested with RT-qPCR method, and serum MMP-9 level was detected via ELISA method.3) The differences in general material and routine blood test,liver and kindey function,blood cholesterol,HCY, LVEF, LAD,betweenthe two groups as well as the correlations between the serum MMP-9,MicroRNA-29 b level of the atrial fibrillation group and the above indexes were analyzed.4)The risk factor of atrial fibrillation was analyzed.Results:1)The left atrial diameter(LAD) was significantly higher in AF group compared to control group. There were no difference about Homocysteine(HCY),Lymphocyte ratio(LSR),Ratio of neutrophil to lymphocyte(NLR), Platelet(PLT), Heomglobin(Hgb), Alanine transferase(ALT), Creatinine(Cr), Low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),Colesterol(TC) level between two groups.2)Compared to control group, the level of serum MicroRNA-29 b in AF group was significantly lower, whereas the level of MMP-9 was significantly higher.3) The serum MicroRNA-29 b level among the patients in the atrial fibrillation group was negatively related to LAD, the serum MMP-9 level was positively related to LAD. there was no obvious correlation between HCY and LAD.4) The serum MMP-9 level among the patients in the atrial fibrillation group was negatively related to the serum MicroRNA-29 b level, and they had no remarkable relation with HCY.5)Binary-Logistic regression shows LAD is a risk factor of atrial fibrillationConclusions:1) The serum MicroRNA-29 b and MMP-9 is correlated with the atrial remodeling of nonvalvular atrial fibrillation.The serum MicroRNA-29 b is negatively correlated with LAD in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation,The serum MMP-9 is positively correlated with the LAD in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation.2) The serum MicroRNA-29 b was negatively correlated with MMP-9 in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation...
