Objective:To evaluate the value of carotid artery ultrasound and left ventricular diastolic function (LVDF) in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CHD), which compared with the results of coronary angiography (CAG). Methods:A total of 240 patients (male 126 cases, female 114 cases, age 65.84+9.45 years) suffered with similar coronary heart disease symptom were enrolled from Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University and Nanjing Second Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University Department of Cardiology, in June 2013 to October 2014. The participants were all checked by carotid artery ultrasound, LVDF and selective left, right coronary artery angiography (CAG), and then, On the basis of the CAG results, results of carotid ultrasound examination and determination of LVDF examination were analyzed and compared Results:1. Basic data which included age, gender, risk factors and so on were no significant statistical difference between the CHD (170 cases) and N-CHD (70 cases) group (P> 0.05).2. The sensitivity of carotid artery ultrasound was 75.9% for the prediction of coronary heart disease, while the specificity was 82.3%.3. The sensitivity of LVDF was 71.2% for the prediction of coronary heart disease, while the specificity was 88.6%.4. To detected the patients with coronary artery lesions, there was no statistically significant difference in the sensitivity of carotid artery ultrasound and LVDF r for the prediction of coronary heart disease as well as in the specificity of them(P>0.05).5. To detected the patients with different range of coronary artery lesions, there was no significant difference between the value of carotid artery ultrasound and LVDF (P> 0.05).6. Carotid artery ultrasound and LVDF could detect the patients with the coronary multivessel disease or double branch lesions more effectively and efficiently than to detect the patients with single branch lesion. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:1.The sensitivity of carotid artery ultrasound and LVDF existed in prediction of coronary artery disease as well as the specificity of them. Meanwhile, both are the relatively convenient, safe and reliable noninvasive method in prediction of CHD nowadays, which would have a promising application prospect in future.2. Carotid artery ultrasound and LVDF could detect the patients with the coronary multivessel disease or double branch lesions more effectively and efficiently than to detect the patients with single branch lesion.3. The combination of carotid artery ultrasound and LVDF can improve the accuracy in prediction of coronary heart disease4. Carotid artery ultrasound and LVDF with relatively partially false positive rate and false negative rate should be combined with other tests and examinations to diagnose CHD, to improve the accuracy in diagnosis of coronary heart disease.
