Aims: To establish the finite element model of Chinese foot and ankle, under the simulation analysis of biomechanics variation of the lateral column structure of foot in normal foot, compression fracture of caudomedial part of the cuboid, which shortened 2mm, 2mm in compression fracture of calcaneocuboid joint and metatarsocuboid joint articular surface. To compare the effects of the treatment between the novel type of cuboid steel plate and regular type of metacarpal and phalangeal steel plate.Method: To choos a healthy man volunteers and using a CT scan, then obtaining the DICOM format image data, after this steps, importing the CT data into Mimics software to reconstruct the foot model and check the accuracy of the model according to the method of Anderson. Developing the novel type of cuboid steel plate via measure the anatomical structures around the cuboid. Making different model of the cuboid fracture, simulating mechanics test based on different model and comparing with the relevant data which come from normal foot, then evaluating the effect on the stability of the foot of the lateral column under different fracture types. Simulating the most common model in the fracture of the cuboid, using five different steel plate internal fixation technology(Including the cuboid bone plate, cross calcaneus-cuboid plate internal fixation, cross cuboid- metatarsus plate internal fixation, cross calcaneus-cuboid-metatarsal joint fixation, metacarpal and phalanges cuboid bone plate fixation) to assess which model is the most stable internal fixation type of foot and the lateral column.Results:1. A three-dimensional finite element analysis model was measured and certified to be availability when used the CT scan data of the foot and ankle and software of Minics.2. When the compression fracture was 2 mm in cuboid, the stress mainly concentrated in the fracture of the cuboid body; When a 2 mm steps was found between the joint surface, the stress mainly focused on the joint surface of the respective;Different fracture model had statistical significance when compared with the normal foot.3.Five different internal fixation methods was used after compression fractures of the cuboid body, the results showed the stress distribution focused on the shear stress of the steel plate internal fixation of fracture was increased; The stress between the fractures was minimum and lateral displacement is minimum when the novel type of cuboid steel plate which across calcaneus-cuboid- metatarsal, which had a statistical significance when compared with other four kinds of internal fixation.Conclusions:1.Through the CT data, using Minics software to set up the normal foot and ankle model and provide a platform for new type of finite element analysis of biomechanical of foot and ankle;2.Cuboid bone body compression fracture has large impact on the surface of cubiod fracture and displacement of lateral foot. Compression fracture of the articular surface of the cuboid bone major stress on the joint surface;3.Independent development of new cubiod bone plate and general palm phalanx double plate have good biological mechanical characteristics.
