Abstract/Summary:
Background:Early-stage mycosis fungoides(MF) clinically and histologically resembles benign inflammatory skin diseases, which sometimes makes it difficult to reach a correct diagnosis.It is said that TOX could be a molecular marker for histological diagnosis of early-stage mycosis fungoides(MF).Notch1---a close relationship between Notch1 and a variety of cancers of the blood,commonly expression in T cell lymphoma.Objective:To identify the expression of TOX protein and NICD in MF and analyze its role as a potential molecular markers of MF.Methods:We performed immunohistochemical staining for TOX and NICD with the lesional skin of fifteen cases of patch MF, ten cases of plaque MF, ten cases of tumour MF,fifteen cases of lymphomatoid papulosis(LyP),fifteen cases of lichen planus,fifteen cases of psoriasis.Result:The MF cells were stained positive by TOX in 33(94.3%)cases out of 35 MF skin specimens.In the control group,34 cases(76%) were stained positive by TOX. And the TOX protein expression level was prominent in the MF group compared with the control groups.All of the skin specimens(MF and control group)were stained negative by NICD.Conclusion: 1.TOX over-expression differentiated MF from the controls.2.Thicker skin lesions such as plaques and tumors expressed even higher TOX levels than thinner patches,but not support that the TOX protein as a potential molecular markers of MF. 3. NICD is negative in MF cells,so it couldn’t be the molecular markers of MF.
