Objective:To investigate the effects of rosuvastatin calcium treatment on pancreatic ?-cell function through testing thelevels of serum C-peptide and plasma glucose in fasting and 2 hours after drinking 75g oral glucose in elderly people. Methods:From January to december,2015, we selected 86 elderly patients hospitalized in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hunan Normal University as research subjects(aged older than 65 years), according to the inclusion criteria, and 39 cases of them were assigned into conventional therapy group (group A), while 47 cases of them were assigned into rosuvastatin calcium group (group B). Group A were given conventional treatment through therapeutic lifestyle changes, including reduced intake of saturated fatty acid and cholesterol, adequate intake of plant sterols and soluble fiber foods, weight loss, increased regular physical activity, quited smoking, restricted amount of salt and so on, on the basis of group group A, group B received rosuvastatin calcium 10mg, PO, QN. They should continue to follow their guidelines for routine treatment if they had hypertension andcoronary heart disease at the same time. Collected fasting and postprandial 2 hours(drinking 75g oral glucose) elbow venous blood in the morning before and after the rosuvastatin calcium treatment for 4 weeks,12 weeks and 24 weeks, respectively, to compare the changes of levels of fasting serum C-peptide(FCP), postprandial 2 hours serum C-peptide(2hPCP), fasting blood glucose(FPG), postprandial 2 hours blood glucose(2hPPG), fasting serum insulin(FSI), the index of pancreatic P-cell function index(HOMA-?), insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR), postprandial 2 hours serum C-peptide to blood glucose ratio(2hPCGR), and to analyse the correlation among them.Results:1.The changes of FCP,2hPCP and FSI before and after treatment:when compared with those before treatment and group A at the same time, FCP,2hPCP and FSI gradually increased in group B, the difference of FCP and 2hPCP had statistical significance at 12 and 24 weeks(P<0.05), the difference of FSI had statistical significance at 24 weeks(P<0.05), while the difference of FCP,2hPCP and FSI in group A had no statistical significance before and after treatment (P>0.05).2.The changes of FPG and 2hPPG before and aftertreatment:when compared with those before treatment and group A at the same time, FPG and 2hPPG gradually increased in group B, the difference of 2hPPG had statistical significance at 12 and 24 weeks(P<0.05), the difference of FPG had statistical significance at 24 weeks(P<0.05), while the difference of FPG and 2hPPG had no statistical significance in group A before and aftertreatment(P>0.05).3.The changes of 2hPCGR, Ln(HOMA-?) and Ln(HOMA-IR) before and after treatment:when compared with those before treatment and group A at the same time,2hPCGR, Ln(HOMA-?) and Ln(HOMA-IR) gradually increased in group B, the difference of 2hPCGR and Ln(HOMA-IR) had statistical significance at 12 and 24 weeks(P<0.05), the difference of Ln(HOMA-IR) had no statistical significance(P<0.05), and the difference of 2hPCGR, Ln(HOMA-?) and Ln(HOMA-IR) had no statistical significance in group A before and aftertreatment(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.Rosuvastatin calcium could influence the function of pancreatic islet ?-cell and glucose metabolism in elderly people.2.When those elderly people who prescribed with rosuvastatin calcium monitor the changes of pancreatic islet ?-cell function and glucose metabolic, such parameters as FCP,2hPCP, 2hPCGR, FPG could be used as auxiliary monitoring index.
