After three decades since the reform and opening-up policy,China's economic development has made a great progress and the people's life also become better and better. With the growing emphasis on quality of life, the people transform their focus from curing the disease to medical service, which lead to a big increase of health care expenditures. In a word, the increase in health care expenditures has attracted much attention of domestic and foreign academics. However, there will be a question whether health services in rural area reserves in economic growth.Comparing to the health care expenditures in city, the growth of health care expenditures in rural area is still low.In rural area,we are facing many problems, such as insufficient peasant health investments, unfair medical resource allocation, accelerating rural population aging and so on.All the problems restrict the growth in peasant health care expenditures, the insufficient peasant health investments will reduce the quality of human capital which could enhance utility, making poverty in rural area caused by sickness. In this context, there is a big difference if we do a research on the influencing factors of health care expenditures for China's peasants.Based on domestic and foreign research,on the one hand, some papers which study the influencing factors of health care expenditures regard demand factors like income or supply factors like doctors as the most important factors. However,China's rural area entered the aging society in 2000,and the aging rate is growing fast in these 10 years,so we can't ignore the population aging factor. On the other hand, some papers use panel data fixed effect and random effect analysis method which reduce the explanatory power. What's more,China's rural area is growing fast recent years, meaning that different influencing factors would have different impact on different development stage, but nowadays we don't have some research about non-linear problem in this field. In theory part,on the basis of the literature review,we analysis the influencing factors of health care expenditures from demand factors, supply factors and structure factors and then find the main explanatory variables of empirical research. In empirical research part, firstly,we use DOLS method to analyze the contribution degree of different influencing factors and compare regional differences based on panel cointegration model.Secondly,we use PVECM to analyze the short-term effects of dynamic adjustment. Finally,we use PTR to analyze the non-linear impact by regarding different influencing factors as threshold variables. The results show as followings:(1)the increase of income, hospital beds and population aging rate help to expand the health care expenditures. However, the increase of drug price reduce the health care expenditures;(2)Long-run equilibrium relationship inhibits the increase of health care expenditures and income in the short run,and rises the drug price, hospital beds in the short run;(3)The influencing factors have different impact on different religions and the Midwestern elasticity were higher than the eastern region;(4)The peasants income?drug price?hospital beds?and population aging in rural area have the non-linear impact on health care expenditures. The last chapter summarizes the conclusions of the whole paper and gives some suggestions about how to increase peasant health Investments.(1)Introduce some relevant policies to benefit farmers and increase their real income;(2)improve the health care reform in order to realize drug prices liberalization;(3)increase investment in central and western regions and narrow the gap between medical resources;(4)strengthen health management for aging people and focus on elderly care service industry.
