Objective The three phase of the dialectical treatment under the Qing-Yang treating theoretical guidance of intertrochanteric fracture surgery in elderly patients of traditional Chinese Medicine, observe the pain relief, swelling subsided of the limb in early period and recovery of hip function in later period. Methods A retrospective analysis from the traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hubei Province underwent surgery of intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients with 38 cases in December 2013 to June 2015, male 18 cases, female 20 case, aged in the 64-89 years, average age of(71.6 ± 4.5) years. using proximal femoral nail anti-rotation(PFNA) surgery, giving symptomatic treatment support, and scientific and rational guidance in patients with functional exercise after surgery,Including 21 patients in the conventional treatment based on fracture three dialectical analysis by TCM treatment, about early(1-2 weeks), medium term(3-5 weeks), later period(6-8 weeks) of different syndromes, given dialectical oral herbal treatment, and through the Qing-Yang theory of treating,as the observation group.Another 17 patients given conventional treatment after surgery without herbal treatment, as the contrast group. By observing visual analog recording(VAS) pain score, swelling rating and Harris hip function score to evaluate clinical results.Result Observation group and control group of 38 patients were followed up for an average of 6.5 months.Postoperative assessment based on a visual analog(VAS) pain score, the postoperative day 3, day 5, day 7,there had statistically significant difference between the observation group and control group in pain relief(p <0.05). Postoperative day 1, day 2, there had no statistically significant difference between the observation group and control group in pain relief(p> 0.05).Assessed according to the clinical grading swelling, there had statistically significant difference in postoperative day 7 between the observation group and control group in swelling subsided(p <0.05). According to Harris hip function score to assess, there had statistically significan between the observation group and the control group in excellent rate of Harris hip function(P<0.05).Conclusion The three phase of the dialectical treatment under the Qing-Yang treating theoretical guidance of intertrochanteric fracture in elderly patients of traditional Chinese Medicine is more conducive to ease the hip pain, limb swelling subsided in in early postoperative, and in the latter is more conducive to recover the hip function in greatly limits, thus greatly enhancing and improving the quality of life of patients, reflecting the advantages of Chinese medicine treatment of fractures of the disease.
