Research And Implementation Of Diagnosis And Therapy Of Motion Sickness

Motion sickness is a series of physiological responses including vomiting, nausea, and other symptoms due to the comfortlessness caused by the excessive stimulation in the movement. Motion sickness may bring great inconvenience to people's life, especially for the aviators and sailors. At present, the prevention and treatment of motion sickness mainly depend on medicine. Drugs for the treatment of motion sickness are of a large variety, but they cause many side effects in clinical trials. Thus, it has become an urgent problem to find a way to treat motion sickness with high safety, strong comfort and less negative effects. This paper establishes a simple and effective motion sickness diagnosis criteria through the study of motion sickness diagnosis system. On this basis, this paper proposes the new idea for the therapy of motion sickness, establishes a non-contact physical therapy system and validates the therapy effect through the experiments under different conditions at the same time.The main contents of this paper:(1) Propose the diagnosis standards of motion sickness. We study on the pathogenesis of motion sickness through the motion detection experiments. We design the swivel chair experiment to stimulating the vestibular system to induce nystagmus and then establish the model of vestibular system with the nystagmus parameters of swivel chair experiments, finally fit the data of the model and analyze model parameters of experimenters to obtain diagnostic criteria for motion sickness. Experimental results show that the model parameters make a significant difference between experimenters with motion sickness and without motion sickness, which can be used as a qualitative diagnose standard for motion sickness.(2) Establish a non-contact physical therapy system for motion sickness. We put forward a new idea for the therapy of motion sickness in physical method which is realized by lowering the temperature of the semicircular canals. We develop the non-contact physical equipment and establish the physical therapy system. The system has advantages of high comfort, practicality, stability and repeatability.(3) Complete the non-contact physical experiment for treatment of motion sickness. In the angular acceleration stimulation experiment, compared to the condition of not wearing the non-contact physical therapy equipment, the tolerance lever can be improved to about 1.4 times under the same slow phase velocity. In the treatment experiment on real road, compared to the condition not wearing the non-contact physical therapy equipment, the carsickness stimulate tolerance time improves about 2 times with the same route and carsick stimulations, and the tolerance time of some mild carsick can reach to the level of no motion sickness..
