Objective: To observe the changes of retinal vessel caliber in age-related macular degeneration(AMD)and branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO).Methods: This research was divided into two parts, and both were cross-sectional and observational studies. All the patients were from the First Hospital of Dalian Medical University during June 2015 to December 2015.In the part one of the study, according to the filter conditions,we served 37 normal people(37 eyes)as the control group, and 22 AMD patients(22 eyes)as AMD group. After using the optical coherence tomography(OCT)to measure the branch of retinal vessel caliber,we worked out central retinal artery equivalent(CRAE),central retinal venular equivalent(CRVE)and artery-vein ratio(AVR)according to the Parr-Hubbard formula[1],and compared the changes of CRAE,CRVE and AVR between two groups by using SPSS19.0 statistical software. In the part two of the study, according to the filter conditions,we served 37 normal people(37 eyes)as the control group,22 patients(22 eyes)without hypertension as non-hypertension BRVO group(NH-BRVO group),and 19 patients(19 eyes)with hypertension as hypertension BRVO group(HP-BRVO group). The measurement and calculation methods were the same with part one,and we compared the changes of CRAE,CRVE and AVR among three groups by using SPSS19.0 statistical software. Results: The part one: The CRAE in control group and in AMD group were(103.324±15.421)?m and(91.890±9.360)?m,with statistically significant differences(P<0.01).The CRVE in control group and in AMD group were(153.293±19.860)?m and(161.738 ± 14.212)?m,without statistically significant differences(P>0.05).The AVR in control group and in AMD group were 0.681 ± 0.011,with statistically significant differences(P<0.01).The part two: The CRAE in control group,NH-BRVO group and HP-BRVO group were(103.324±15.421)?m,(83.492±8.774)?m and(78.724±6.486)?m.The CRVE in control group,NH-BRVO group and HP-BRVO group were(153.293±19.860)?m,(150.428 ± 13.930)?m and(148.034 ± 18.675)?m.The AVR in control group,NH-BRVO group and HP-BRVO group were 0.681±0.011,0.591 ±0.066,0.545±0.071.The difference of CRAE and AVR between the control group and the NH-BRVO group were with statistically significant(P<0.01,P<0.05),and the difference of CRVE between the two groups was without statistically significant(P>0.05).The difference of CRAE,CRVE and AVR between the control group and the HP-BRVO group were all with statistically significant(P<0.01,P<0.05,P<0.05).,while the three parameters between the NH-BRVO group and HP-BRVO were without statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions: 1.Compared with the general population, the CRAE and AVR of AMD patients were reduced, and CRVE was unchanged.2.Compared with the general population,CRAE and AVR of BRVO patients were reduced.CRVE cannot yet be considered reduced in BRVO patients.3.Between two types of BRVO patients,CRAE?CRVE?AVR cannot yet be considered different.
