Objective:Through detecting the expression of tumor necrosis factor related apoptosis inducing ligand(TRAIL)in patients of nodular goiter,thyroid adenoma and normal control(NC),analysis TRAIL in thyroid nodule(TN)and NC,and preliminarily investigate the significance of TRAIL in the pathogenesis and pat hological changes of TN.Methods:Streptavidin avidin-peroxidase enzymic method was used to detect the expression of TRAIL in 60 thyroid surgical patients' thyroid gland specimen,including 30 cases of nodular goiter and 30 cases of thyroid adenoma collected from the second affiliated hospital of Nanchang university,and fourteen normal thyroid specimens served as controls.Results:1?Comparison the general clinical data between nodular goiter group, thyroid adenoma group and the NC group, mostly are edlerly patients,and the gender composition of the three groups are mostly women..thyroid hormones,anti bodies and other general clinical data were no statistically significant(P> 0.05).2?The positive rates of TRAIL in thyroid follicular epithelial cells of nod ular goiter and thyroid adenoma were 77% and 80%,both higher than 50% in the normal controls,and were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion :Abnormal expression of TRAIL showed thyroid nodules exists abnormal apoptosis, that indicated imbalance between proliferation and apoptosis of thyroid follicular epithelial cell may be a key factor in the development of thyroid nodules,so that TRAIL might play an important role in the pathogenesis and pathological changes of TN.
