BackgroundDiagnosis and differential diagnosis of focal hepatic lesions always cause considerable distress to clinical and medical imaging. Some,in fact prove to be the liver benign lesions, when enhanced scan showed significantly enhanced,as the imaging findings with malignant liver lesions. However,Some,in fact prove to be the liver malignant lesions, when enhanced scan showed no significantly enhanced,as the imaging findings with benignt liver lesions. At present, there are a variety of new technologies applied to the MRI diagnosis of liver diseases.Among them, the diffusion weighted imaging is to detect the movement of water molecules diffusing in the organization, and indirectly to reflect cell density and structure information,By the change of different b values lesions of apparent diffusion coefficient value, and the change of different b values signal,is of great value in the diagnosis of focal hepatic liver lesions.ObjectiveTo evaluate diffusion weighted imaging different b values lesions of apparent diffusion coefficient value in the diagnosis of focal hepatic lesions, and analyze the changing characteristics of DWI signal.MethodsFifty patients with liver focal lesions underwent multi-b value diffusion weighted MRtechnique, and all lesions were confirmed by pathology or other ways. The ADC values were measured for 20,60,100,400,600,800,1000 s/mm 2 b values on the focal hepatic lesions. The differences of the ADC values and the ratio of the signal intensity of the lesions(Sb)and the normal liver parenchyma(Sliver)were compared and analyzed.ResultsNo difference in ADC values with 20,60s/mm 2 b values were found in focal hepatic lesions(P>0.05),whereas difference in 400,600,800,1000s/mm2 values were found. The ADC values in liver benign lesions were greater than that in malignant leisions with400,600,800,1000s/mm2 b values(P<0.001).When the b values were increased, the signal intensity of the lesions were continued to reduce, the same as the Sb/Sliver.Above all the focal hepatic lesions, the signal intensity of the hepatic cysts were reduced the fastest, the slowest were the hepato cellular carcinoma, hepaic metastatic tumors and intrahepatic bile duct carcinoma, and between them were the hepatic hemangioma.ConclusionMulti-b diffusion weighted imaging technique is of great value in the diagnosis of focal hepatic lesions.
