Objective:The research was to observe the comprehensive curative effect of treating childhood asthma in summer acupoint-application during non-outbreak period(lung-spleen qi deficiency syndrome) which including the total effect, the attacking times, the total scores of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome, the scores of main and minor TCM syndromes and the scores analysis of C-ACT. Meanwhile, testing the alteration of children's pulmonary function, fraction of exhaled nitric oxide(Fe NO) and serum Ig E after treatment. The research about the mechanism of action of this therapy, which providing a more reliable reason for a better clinical application to promote the therapy in the future not only in optimizing but also perfecting TCM clinical plan to cure childhood asthma. Methods:Gathering the children who had suffered in asthma in non-outbreak period(lung-spleen qi deficiency syndrome), divided them randomly into 2 different groups, one was treatment group another was control group. There were 68 cases in this study including 35 cases in treatment group and 33 cases in control group. Children in control group were treated by routine treatment. Meanwhile another group added a course acupoint-application in routine treatment. To take drugs stick on acupoints of Danzhong, Fengmen, Feishu, Geshu, lienal Yu on the summer solstice, first dog-days,Zhongfu and Mofu.Keep 2-4 hours every time.A course of treatment included four times.Compared the two groups before and after treatment for six months, which including the total effect, the attacking times, the total scores of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome, the scores of main and minor TCM syndromes and the scores analysis of C-ACT. Meanwhile, testing the alteration of children's pulmonary function, fraction of exhaled nitric oxide(Fe NO) and serum Ig E One week after the treatment.Results:1.The comparison of the effect: The total effective rate of the treatment group is better than the control group(P<0.05) with the number of 82.86%(the treatment group) and69.70%(the control group).2.The number of the attacking times: Both the two groups can reduce the attacking times obviously(P<0.01), and the treatment group is better than the control group(P<0.05).3.The comparison of the TCM symptoms total scores: Both the two groups could reduce the TCM symptoms total scores obviously(P<0.01), meanwhile the treatment group perform better with the number(P<0.05).4.The comparison of the main TCM symptoms scores: Both the two groups could reduce the main TCM symptoms scores(P<0.01 or P<0.05).From the next 2 aspect including cough and wheeze, the treatment group perform more efficiently than the control group(P<0.05). But there were no significant differences between the two groups of the improvement in such three symptoms, including panting, chest distress and cough up phlegm.(P>0.05).5.The comparison of the minor TCM symptoms scores: Both the two groups could reduce the minor TCM symptoms scores(P<0.01 or P<0.05). From the next 3 aspect including shortness of breath, the night sweating, the spontaneous sweating and weakness, the treatment group perform more efficiently than the control group(P<0.01 or P<0.05). But there were no significant differences between the two groups of the improvement in such four symptoms, including pale, tongue, tongue frenulum and clear abundant urine(P>0.05).6.The comparison of the C-ACT scores: Both of the two groups can improve the C-ACT scores significantly(P<0.01), and the treatment group is better than that of the control group(P<0.05).7.The comparison of pulmonary function: Both of the two groups perform well in improving PEF, FEV1 and FVC significantly(P<0.01), however the treatment group is better than the control group(P<0.05).8.The comparison of the fraction of exhaled nitric oxide(Fe NO): Both of the two groups can reduce the fraction of exhaled nitric oxide(Fe NO) significantly(P<0.01),while the treatment group represent better(P<0.05).9.The comparison of the serum Ig E: Both of the two groups perform efficiently in reducing the serum Ig E(P<0.01), and the treatment group shows significantly better(P<0.01).Conclusion:The treatment of treating winter disease in summer with acupointapplication can improve the comprehensive curative effect of children who have asthma in non-outbreak period(lung-spleen qi deficiency syndrome), including reducing attacking times, reducing the total scores of TCM symptoms and reducing the scores of main and minor TCM syndromes, improving C-ACT scores. The function probably related to the mechanism of acupoint sticking therapy that could be connect with improving pulmonary function, reducing fraction of exhaled nitric oxide(Fe NO)and reducing serum Ig E of children.
