At present, with the continuous progress of modern medical imaging technology, according to the CT image analysis and diagnose the illness, has become one of the most important methods. Hepatic vascular disease is one of the main diseases seriously affect people’s health. So,analysis the vessel in hepatic CT images has great significance. However, hepatic vascular system is very complicated, to get more complete information about the vessels, a suitable image segmentation technique is needed to segment the hepatic vascular, in order to have a more comprehensive understanding and grasp of the hepatic vascular.In a variety of methods of hepatic vascular segmentation, region growing algorithm is widely used. So this paper based on the traditional region growing algorithm, the original abdominal CT image as input, the improved region growing algorithm was used to segment the hepatic vascular. Need to carry out research work:(1) The theoretical basis of the research. Knowledge of medical images, especially the characteristics of CT images of the study and research. The relevant knowledge and application of region growing algorithm for learning. And the research background of hepatic vascular segmentation based on region growing algorithm is studied and the research achievements of recent years, through reading literature, understanding the current domestic and foreign research on the using region growing algorithm for the segmentation of hepatic vascular, combined with the characteristics of the hepatic vascular, the algorithm framework is constructed in this paper.(2) The selection of image preprocessing method. Briefly introduces the commonly used methods of CT image and CT image features in liver segmentation. According to the characteristics of liver CT images and hepatic vascular, appropriate image pretreatment methods and liver segmentation methods were selected, so as to be able to carry out a better segmentation of vessels in the liver on the basis of this.(3) Improvement of region growing algorithm. First introduce the basic theory and algorithm of traditional region growing. By analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional region growing algorithm, the improved region growing algorithm of coarse segmentation and resegmentation combining is proposed, then based on the basic principle of improved region growing algorithm is the premise, formulate and complete 3D segmentation ofhepatic vascular, including a detailed description of the specific method process of segmentation,segmentation method and related techniques are used. Finally, the segmented vessels were studied and analyzed, and select the corresponding optimization and visualization methods,further processing of the vessels.(4) Experimental verification. Using VS2010 and Matlab software platform, the segmented liver CT image sequence as input, writing a simulation program of the algorithm, the improved region growing algorithm is used for segmentation experiment. And with the help of the VTK,three dimensional reconstruction of vessels was carried out, to display the three-dimensional structure of vessels, make people more convenient to observe vessels.This algorithm is mainly aimed at the problems in the past one-time vascular segmentation,segmentation method based on coarse segmentation and resegmentation are combined, and the results of the experiment and analysis, not only the algorithm experimental results are analyzed,and the improved algorithm and the conventional algorithm of segmentation experiments results are compared and analysis, it is proved that the improved region growing method in the hepatic vascular segmentation to obtain vascular information more comprehensive, and the segmentation results are more accurate, at the same time, the performance of the algorithm in this paper also has carried on the analysis and comparison, the algorithm of segmentation accuracy and feasibility is verified.
