Objective: To establish an age related cataract database, which is based on the SQLite platform and manage the relating clinical material of age related cataract patients. Retrospectively analyze the operation information of age related cataract patients collected from the database, in the affiliated hospital of the Southwest Medical University. Methods: Set up an age related cataract database with SQLite2010.The database includes medical and follow-up records, information inquiry, statistics and printing plate. Input the clinical information of 813 patients(1179 eyes) diagnosed with age related cataract and underwent cataract surgery, from July, 2013 to December, 2015. Investigate the gender, home address, education level and medical insurance. In order to verify the database correctness, the statistics will be compared with the outcomes of SPSS 17.0. Export the gender, age, pre-operative visual acuities, the price of intraocular lens, and some other clinical data from the age-related cataract database. Then do some statistical analysis of age, pre-operative visual acuities, surgery technique, course of disease, the selection of intraocular lens and calculate monocular blindness rate, residue removal rate after operation. Results: 1.We successfully set up the age-related cataract database. The database is not only easily operation, convenient, high efficiency, but also provide complete original data records. The database includes query, print, statistic and output function, and the Statistical results of gender, age, pre-operation visual acuity, discharge vision acuity, surgical options, address, education level are consistent with SPSS 17.0. 2. The mean age of males(71.74±8.92years) was older than females(70.33±8.79years)(t=2.216, P=0.027). The pre-operative visual acuities between males and females is different(u=-4.411,P=0.000). 3. The pre-operation visual acuities between the first operation eyes and the second operation eyes was different(u=-4.411,P=0.000). 4. The preoperative visual acuities, intraocular lens selection were different between rural and urban patients.(u=-7.838,P=0.000)?(?2=9.532,P=0.002). 5. The difference of preoperative visual acuities among different education levels had statistical discrepancy(?2=34.818,V=2,P=0.000). 6. The difference of pre-operation visual acuities among different medical insurances had statistical discrepancy(?2=18.979,V=1,P=0.000). 7. There was no difference in the pre-operative visual acuities between patients who had other system disease or not(u=-0.446, P=0.656). 8. After operation, the monocular blindness rate was 90.69%, the residue removal rate was 70.45%. Conclusion: 1.This age related cataract database not only provide complete and accurate original data, but also be convenient, high efficiency and easy to operation. The database is an auxiliary means for diagnosis and treatment of age related cataract, provide a good tool for cataract clinical work, teaching and clinical research in teaching hospitals. 2. The characteristics of this group of age related cataract surgery: Phacoemulsification combined with foldable intraocular lens implantation was the main mode of operation. There existed differences in operative age, education level, medical insurance, account type, gender and intraocular lens selection.
