There is oxidative damage in canecrer tissues, but it do not accelerate tumor cell death. Antioxidant plays an important role in regulating tumor cell proliferation and apoptosis. Therefore, the functions of antioxidant, including Prx1, has attracted attention of more and more scientists. Prxl is a member of a major peroxiredoxin family member and also has been identified in a large variety of organisms. The major functions of Prxl comprise cellular protection against oxidative stress and modulation of different intracellular signaling. At present, Prx1 has been investigated in various human cancer samples. In this review we highlight the recent discoveries of the biological functions of Prxl in cancer.
