Hatching is an important process in the egg industry.There are infertile eggs and dead embryos which decrease the hatching rate during the incubation.Thus,manual candling is applied to detect the unqualified eggs in the actual production to increase hatching rate and reduce energy consumption.But the efficiency of manual candling is quite low and the accuracy of manual candling is easily influenced by various factors.In this paper,a system to detect infertile eggs and dead embryos was designed.Base on the research object of "Meiling" eggs,the light color and intensity of light source was studied to optimize.The influence of egg phisycal parameters on the intensity of light transmitted through the egg was performed.The main research contents and results are as follows:(1)Design and improvement of the experiment device for photoelectric detection of infertile eggs and dead embryosFor photoelectric detection of infertile eggs and dead embryos,a candling device based on LED(Light-emitting-diode)and photo components was developed.6 kinds of LEDs with different color were used to optimize the light color.No.l device was equipped with photo resistance and No.2 device was equipped with optical sensor to detect the dead embryos in middle incubation.(2)LED light optimization for photoelectric detection of infertile eggs and dead embryos in early incubationUsing No.1 device,the RAR values(Relative Absorption Rate)were obtained when eggs were candled by different color(blue,green,yellow,red,warm white and cold white)LEDs.The results indicated that the transmission capacity of LEDs with different color is:monochromatic light:red>yellow>green;compound light:warm white>cold white.Besides,the transmission capacity of warm white is stronger than that of yellow,green and blue.The relative absorption curve of viable embryos rapidly increased with incubation time while the rising rate of the curve of dead embryo fluctuated,and the curve of infertile eggs was more smooth and steady with a smaller increase.On the 7th day of incubation in this experiment,detection accuracy with warm white LED and red LED were the highest--94.94%.(3)Physical parameter fusion for photoelectric detection of infertile eggs and dead embryos in early incubationUsing No.1 device,the RAR values were obtained when eggs were candled by red and warm white.The egg physical parameters(egg weight,long axis,short axis,chroma)were also measured.It was found that eggshell color had a great impact on the transmittance of eggs:1.The bigger the L*,the higher the transmittance will be;The bigger the a*,the lower the transmittance will be.With the influence of L*and a*,the RAR of red LED was affected more obviously than the RAR of warm white LED.Using logical regression with RAR,the result showed that detection accuracy of infertile eggs and dead embryos increased with incubation time.The accuracies of fertility detection with RAR of warm white LED and red LED were 94.12%and 88.24%respectively on the 7th day;Combined with the physical parameters of eggs,the accuracies of 96.08%(warm white)and 94.12%(red)on the 7th day were obtained.Besides,the detection result of warm white LED is better than that of red LED,which can basically meet the requirements in the actual production.(4)Optimization of photo components and light intensity for photoelectric detection of dead embryos in middle incubationUsing No.2 device,the intensity(lux)of light transmitted through the egg and physical parameters were measured.Using logical regression with the intensity of light transmitted through the egg,the accuracies of 100%on the 7th day(low intensity of light--180 lumen);Combined with the physical parameters of eggs,the accuracy of 100%on the the 6th day(low intensity of light--180 lumen)was even obtained.The accuracy of 100%was achieved in the early incubation and it can fully meet the need of the hatchery.The No.2 device was better than No.1 device over the detection result and the time point.Considering the fetal movement,five fetal eigenvalues(Count,Mean,Range,Average,Std)were extracted,the detection accuracy of 93.12%with high intensity light was obtained on the 12th day.It is feasible to detect dead embryo by the change of transmitted light intensity caused by fetal movement.Experiment with different light intensity showed that high light intensity can improve the detection accuracy of dead embryos in middle incubation.
