Wolbachia is a maternally inherited bacterium that may be the most abundant and widespread endosymbictic bacteria on earth, and can impact reproduction and development of its host.In this study, biological characteristics(development, fecundity, hatching rate and life expectancy)of Drosophila melanogaster with infected and uninfected Wolbachia were compared. The resistance to malathion, cypermethrin and buprofezin of D.melanogaster with infected and uninfected Wolbachia were determined, respectively.Additionally,we studied the activities of enzyme with related resistance-insecticide(acetylcholinesterase,in short AChE;mixed multifunctional oxidase,in short MFO and glutathione S-transferase,in short GSTs)with infected and uninfected Wolbachia in D.melanogaster.The results showed that:(1)The oviposition numbers, hatching rate, pupation rate, emergence rate and adult longevity of D.melanogaster with infected Wolbachia significantly decreased than those of D.melanogaster with uninfected Wolbachia(oviposition numbers(P <0.0001);hatching rate(P= 0.018);pupation rate(P <0.0001);emergence rate(P <0.0001);adult longevity(P<0.0001)).Our results have also showed that infected Wolbachia could cause prolong the developmental durations and decrease life expectancy in D.melanogaster.The relative fitness value of D.melanogaster with infected Wolbachia was 0.688 when compared with those of uninfected. These results indicated that there were some harmful effects on the reproduction and development with infected Wolbachia in D.melanogaster.(2)The resistance to malathion, cypermethrin and buprofezin of D.melanogaster with infected and uninfected Wolbachia were determined by drip method, the retslts showed that the resistance to three insecticides infemale D.melanogaster with infected Wolbachia significantly increased than those of uninfected, and the resistance ratios were 1.067,1.085 and 1.123(P <0.05),respectively.The resistance to malathion and cypermethrin in male D.melanogaster with infected Wolbachia significantly decreased than those of uninfected, and the resistance ratios were 0.875 and0.806(P <0.05),respectively.However,the resistance to buprofezin in male D.melanogaster with infected Wolbachia significantly increased than those of uninfected, and the resistance ratios was 1.052(P=0.012).(3)The activities of AChE,MFO and GSTs with infected and uninfected Wolbachia in D.melanogaster were detected by Enzyme kits. The results showed that the activities of AChE,MFO and GSTs with infected Wolbachia in female D.melanogaster were significantly increased than those of uninfected(P<0.01).However,the activities of AChE,MFO and GSTs with infected Wolbachia in male D.melanogaster were significantly decreased than those of uninfected(P<0.01).
