Investigation And Analysis On Modern Plant Wall In Pearl River Delta

Along with the development of accelerating urbanization process in China,tensely city’s land,fewer and fewer green areas,these environmental problems such as having heat island effect,having noise pollution having fog and haze(PM2.5),and others have been present in the current cities.Therefore,various forms of vertical greening is very important to solve the problem of limited space.In recent years,the modern plant walls of the Pearl River Delta region(abbreviated as PRD in later pepper),especially in Guangzhou,Shenzhen and Zhuhai Cities,have good development trends,have certain characteristics for example having the plant wall type,having application of new materials,quantity,maintenance and management,having regulate the establishment and other aspects.Therefore,it is necessary to investigate and analyze on indoor and outdoor plant wall of PRD,such as plant selection,frame design,matrix configuration,irrigation system and construction,mining the local characteristics,finding some problems,and looking for the methods to solve,so as to provide reference and guidance for the healthy development of plant wall for other cities.Through investigation and visits,the factors such as the cultivated plant species,planting module,cultivation medium,irrigation system and the overall landscape effect are recorded for these indoor and outdoor plant walls.Some indexes according to analytic hierarchy process(abbr.as AHP in later pepper)are investigated and identified respectively,then it is analyzed,established the model and array,and selected respectively.Results of investigation and analysis of indoor plant walls in PRD are shown that,although plant species are relatively small,the top five of plant species are Aeschynanthus pulche,Epipremnum aureum,Aglaonema commutatun‘Bond’,A.commutatun‘Peacock’,Philodendron‘con-go’? among five cultured media,the top two of cultivation media are Puffcal and peat mixed with perlite while the worst is the soil? the drip irrigation is the best among all irrigation system,next is sprinkler,while artificial watering is the worst? the plastic pots is better planting module than blanket.Results of investigation and analysis of outdoor plant walls in PRD are shown that,the top fifteen plant species are Symplocos caudate,Schefflera octophylla(Lour.)Harms,Altemanthera ficoidea ‘Ruliginosa’,Breynia nivosa,Dracaena surculosa ‘Maculata’,Ligustrum sinense Lour.,Codiaeum variegatum ‘Chrysophyllum’,Ixora chinensis Lam.,Hymenocallis littoralis(Jacq.)Scalisb.,Ficus pumila Linn.,Schefflera odorata ‘variegata’,Hibiscus rosa-sinensis var.variegate,Murraya exotica L.,Monstera deliciosa Liebm.,Asparagus densiflorus ‘Sprengeri’,Philodendron ‘con-go’,Epipremnum aureum? The bottom ten plants are Alpinia sanderae Hort.,Chlorophytum comosum ‘variegatum’,Nephrolepis auriculata,Cordyline fruticosa(L.)Goepp.’Ti’,Buxus sinica(Rehd.et Wils.)Cheng,C.fruticosa(L.)A.Cheval,Zebrina pendula Schnizl,Iris tectorum Maxim.,Cuphea hookeriana Walp.,Acalypha wikesiana;The top three of cultivation media are peat mixed with soil,perlite and ceramsite,peat mixed with perlite and ceramsite,peat mixed with ceramsite,while the bottom three media are soil mixed with sand,soil,soil mixed with ceramsite?The best module system is plastic box with sponge,while the worst is the plastic planting groove? The drip irrigation unit by unit system is better than the topic irrigation,while the worst is irrigating.Although the plant wall in the Pearl River Delta has developed rapidly,such as having many types of plant wall,applying various kinds of plant species and many types of matrix,but there are also many technical problems and lacking of maintenance and other issues,all that should be further improved.
