We found that regular Ixeris chinensis nakai.seedlings with strong deep roots in row came out in the field without sowing seeds in the second spring. We hypothetic that the new Ixeris chinensis nakai.seedlings were biennial plants. To verify this hypothesis, the agronomic traits, leaf distribution, nutrient composition, seed vigor and root characteristics of Lactuca indica L.cv.Mengzao were detected.According to the vitality of the roots of the next year after returning green,Ixeris chinensis nakai.is not biennial plants. The suspected biennial plant in the no-sowing filed may be due to the germination of the seeds falling into the soil last autumn. The Ixeris chinensis nakai.showed white or yellow flowers. In order to investigate the difference between the Ixeris chinensis nakai.with white and yellow flowers, agronomic traits, leaf distribution and nutrient composition were analyzed. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the utilization of Ixeris chinensis nakai.with different flowers. For further utilization of the Ixeris chinensis nakai.,the optimum silage technology of Ixeris chinensis.was detected by using plastic bag silage. Here, the Ixeris chinensis nakai.were used to made into different kinds of silages, including fresh Ixeris silage,pre-dried Ixeris silage, fresh Ixeris-the whole maize mixed silage and pre-dried Ixeris-the whole maize mixed silage(1:1?1:2?1:3?2:1 and 3:1).Moreover,the nutritional quality and fermentation quality of the different kinds of silages were analyzed. The results showed that the quality of pre-dry Ixeris silage did not improve.Furthermore,we found that the optimum ratio of fresh silage to the whole plant maize and the pre-dry silage to the whole plant maize were 1:2 and 1:3.
