Agrilus zanthoxylumi Hou(Coleoptera: Bupresdae),the main stem borer of Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim in the pepper producing areas in the north of China,which are mainly distributed in Gansu and Shaanxi pvovince.The larvae corrode the pepper trunk,causing the tree to flow glue,decay,dry,until the dead,adult nibble the pepper leaves,but the harm is not great.In this study,in order to explore the role of chemical information of A.zanthoxylumi in the process of host selection,we analyzed the volatile matter components in the hindgut and feces of A.zanthoxylumi by GC-MS,electroantennography and Y-tube olfactometer were used to test the electroantennographic(EAG)and behavioral responses of A.zanthoxylumi adults to the volatiles from hindgut and feces,and to provide a theoretical basis for further revealing the composition of the pheromone of A.Zanthoxylumi,which will provide a theoretical basis for the future study of the use of insect pheromone in the prevention and cure of A.zanthoxylumi.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows :(1)To study the specific component composition and relative content of the volatile components in the hindgut and feces of A.Zanthoxylumi.the volatile components were extracted by n-hexane and were analyzed by GC-MS.The results showed that the main components of the volatile substances in the hindgut of females and males were aldehydes and organic acids.The relative content of cis-9-hexadecenal in the hindgut volatiles from females and males was the highest,which was 40.51% and 57.08% respectively.Followed by hexadecanoic acid,the relative content was 13.9% and 12.58% respectively,the species and relative content in the hindgut volatiles from females and males were similar.The differences in species and relative content of feces volatile from females and males were great,the main components of the femals feces volatile were hydrocarbons and alcohols,tetracontane(21.16%)and phytol(8.53%)were the highest,while hydrocarbons and organic acids were the main components in males,phytol(8.53%)and heneicosane(6.07%)were the highest.(2)In the range of 0.01 to 100 μg/μL,the EAG responses of A.Zanthoxylumi to the three monomer compounds were increased with the increase of the compound concentration,and the maximum value appeared at the concentration of 100 μg/μL basically.Hexadecanoic acid at the 0.01,10,100 μg/μL concentrations and oleic acid at the 0.1 and 1 μg/μL concentrations caused female A.Zanthoxylumi stronger EAG responses.Oleic acid cloudcause males stronger EAG responses at the 5 concentrations.T test showed that there was a gender difference in the EAG response of oleic acid at the 100 μg/μL concentration(P <0.05,the same below),as well as hexadecanoic acid at the 4 concentrations of 0.01,0.1,1,100μg/μL.(3)The EAG responses of A.Zanthoxylumi to the four combinations showed a increase tendency with the increase of the combinations concentration,and most of them had the strongest EAG response at the concentration of 100 μg/μL.Cis-9-hexadecenal & oleic acid at the 0.01 and 10 μg/μL concentrations caused females stronger EAG responses,cis-9-hexadecenal & oleic acid & hexadecanoic acid at the 0.1,1,and 100 μg/μL concentrations caused females stronger EAG responses;Cis-9-hexadecenal & hexadecanoic acid at the 0.01 and 1 μg/μL concentrations caused males stronger EAG responses,cis-9-hexadecenal & oleic acid & hexadecanoic acid at the 0.1 μg/μL concentration caused males stronger EAG responses of,cis-9-hexadecenal & oleic acid at the 10 and 100 μg/μL concentrations caused males stronger EAG responses.T test showed that there was a gender difference in the EAG response of oleic acid & hexadecanoic acid at the 1 μg/μL concentration.(4)The results of behavioral responses of A.Zanthoxylumi to the three monomer compounds showed that compounds at the 1 μg/μL and 10 μg/μL concentration have a certain lure effect,females showed repellent responses to cis-9-hexadecenal at the 100 μg/μL concentration.The chi-square test showed that femles showed a significant tendency to selectivity to oleic acid at the 1 μg/μL and hexadecanoic acid at the 10 μg/μL concentration(P<0.05,the same below),males showed a significant tendency to selectivity to cis-9-hexadecenal & oleic acid & hexadecanoic acid at the 100 μg/μL concentration.(5)The results of behavioral responses of A.Zanthoxylumi to the four combinations showed that compounds at the 1 μg/μL concentration have a certain lure effect,females showed repellent responses to cis-9-hexadecenal & hexadecanoic acid and males showed repellent responses to oleic acid & hexadecanoic acid at the 10 μg/μL concentration,while females and males showed repellent responses when the concentration at the 100 μg/μL concentration.The chi-square test showed that femles showed a significant tendency to selectivity to cis-9-hexadecenal & oleic acid & hexadecanoic acid at the 1 μg/μL concentration,while there was a significant repellent effect at the 100 μg/μL concentration.
