This paper was aimed to discuss the effects of intercropping aromatic plants on the soil nutrients and soil enzyme activities and soil microorganism in tea plantation.Intercropping Agastache rugose,Salvia japonica,Dianthus barbatus,Phlox subulata,Saponaria officinalis were selected as experimental treatments, clean tillage were selected as control, determined the quantities of the soil bacteria, fungi, actinomycete and soil nutrient contents and the activities of urease, protease, invertase, catalase. That was to reflect of the influence of intercropping aromatic plants on the soil nutrients, soil enzyme activities and soil microorganism quantities in tea plantation. Results were as follows:1.Compared to clean tillage plots, the soil p H and soil moisture of intercropping aromatic plants plots significantly improved and the soil bulk density reduced in a degree;Intercropping aromatic plants significantly decreased the contents of soil organic matter and the contents of soil total nitrogen and the contents of soil available nitrogen, available phosphorus and availablepotassium in June.As most of aromatic plants were witheredin October, the contents of soil organic matter, total nitrogen, available nitrogen, available phosphorus and available potassium of intercropping aromatic plants plots were significantly improved.2.It was significant that the soil enzyme activities were improved in aromatic plants intercropping areas in different seasons. The study results showed that the soil catalase and invertase activities of intercropping aromatic plants plots was improved compared with clean tillage plots, while the soil urease and protease activity declined in June.On October, intercropping aromatic plants increased significantly the activities of soil urease, protease and invertase in different depth. There was no significant difference about soil catalase activities between clean tillage plots and intercropping aromatic plants plots.3.Compared to clean tillage plots, the quantities of bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes in the depth of 0-30 cm of intercropping aromatic plants plots significantly improved. It was more significant of the variety of soil microbes between clean tillage plots and intercropping aromatic plants plots in 0-10 cm and 10-20 cm soil layer.4.By the analysis of composite index by soil quality index,we consider that the soil fertility could be improved by intercropping aromatic plants, especially Salvia japonica.
