The tractor has a pivotal role in agricultural production in China.In addition to provide traction, but also achieve supporting machinery of agricultural mechanization through the PTO mechanism. The damage of the PTO mechanism directly causes the tractor not to be used normally, which will bring unwanted effect to agricultural production. Therefore, With the continuous use of tractors extension,Improving the carrying capacity of the PTO mechanism,Quick analysis the cause of failure of the tractor in the actual use, proposing the improvement measure and verifying the improvement through the effective measures are to be necessary.This paper systematically summarized the damage form of the power output mechanism based on the theoretical analysis and metallographic examination.Finding the reasons of the the failure of the relevant parts of the PTO mechanism based on the conventional failure analysis means such as metallographic,experience analysis and so on. And proposing the control measures one by one. The reasons of failure of the retaining ring groove structure of the PTO case are emphatically studied, Determining the axial force is the main reason for the failure of the PTO case according to the structure of the PTO mechanism and parts of the form of damage to each other interference wear. Combing the national standards and actual use situation, Analyzing the structure before and after the improvement of the technology center through the method of finite element analysis. And compare the results of the analysis and the actual damage parts,Confirm the correctness of finite element analysis. And then found that the original retaining ring groove structure to withstand the axial force is difficult to meet the requirements of national standard.Combing with the characteristics of the PTO mechanism and Comparing with other PTO structures of the tractor,put forward the improvement proposal of the axial force born by the shoulder. This improvement measure needs to change fewer parts,easy to machinng, the assembly measure is basically the same with the original assembly measure and the company investment is low.Verifying the improvedsolution is feasible and reliable through the finite element analysis.
