The seed Xianyu 335 and Liangyu 99 cultured in the artificial climate chamber were used as test material to study the effects of different temperatures(13℃,15℃, 17.5℃,20℃, 25℃) and soil moisture contents(20%, 25%, 30%, 35%) on seed vigor, storage matter transport rate, physiological and biochemical indexes. The results showed that :When soil water content was the same, germination rate, the germination index, vigor index, leaf length of seedling, leaf, seedling quality and storage substance transportation rate decreased with the decreasing temperature; when the temperature was the same, germination rate, the germination index, vigor index, leaf length of seedling, seedling quality, storage substance transportation rate increased before decreasing with the increase of soil moisture content. When soil water content was the same, root activity, soluble sugar content, proline content, MDA content, soluble protein content, superoxide dismutase activity, peroxidase activity, catalase activity, chlorophyll content increased before decreasing with the decreasing temperature; when the temperature was the same, root activity, soluble sugar content, proline content, MDA content, soluble protein content, superoxide dismutase activity, peroxidase activity, catalase activity, chlorophyll content increased before decreasing with the increase of soil moisture content. The content of MDA gradually increased. At temperature of 25 ℃, germination rate, the germination index, vigor index, leaf length of seedling, seedling quality, storage substance transportation rate reached the maximum at 25% soil moisture content, which was optimal for seed germination and growth. When the temperature dropped to 15℃, seedling growth was inhibited at 35% soil moisture content. When the temperature dropped to 13℃, maize seedlings were short, stems were slender and seeds could not germinate normally.
