Seedlings' spacing should be adjust during its growth stage using inefficient manual operation mode.In order to solve this problem a new transplanter have been designed to adjust the horizontal and vertical space between seedlings named the seedling transplanting-separating machine.The main contents are as follows:(1)Experiment on physical and mechanical properties of tomato seedling pot mainly includes compression test,puncture test,creep test and scattered test.The results shows that the picking seedling force must exceed 3.15 N and the puncturing displacement can't exceed 19.5mm.Creep test and scattered test have little influence to the pot.(2)The seedling transplanting-separating machine is designed on the base of72-holes tray.On the condition that the insertion angle of the end effector is 10.26°,the max cross-sectional area of the end effector can't exceed the size of the single plug(41.10mm).Using the SOLIDWORKS software to design the seedling transplanting-separating machine(The precision of the machine is 2mm),the main mechanical structure includes: the transverse feeder mechanism(ball screw),the spacing adjustment structure,the end effector and so on.Then check the strength of the designed parts.The results shows that the machine meet the design requirements.(4)ADAMS is used to design the trajectory of the end effector and establish the trajectory function equation.The results shows that the end effector can reach the planning points and move smoothly.ANSYS is relied to analysis the key components of seedling transplanting-separating machine.The results shows that the overall deformation of the key components is 13.8e-7mm which have little effect on the precision of the machine.(5)The control system of the machine is designed in single control system.Mitsubishi Group's PLC(PLC model:FX3U-40MT)is used to design the control system of the seedling transplanting-separating machine.The experiment shows that the control system is operationable.(6)A test platform of the seedling transplanting-separating machine is built.Inorder to provide a theoretical basis for the research of the machine,no-load and load test is made for the working efficiency and analysis the reasons.The results shows that when the height of seedlings is 40 mm,the transplantation distance is 300 mm and the length of the end effector finger is 20 mm,the efficiency is the highest.
