Moso bamboo(Phyllostachys edulis)forest is a special type of forest with high economic value and ecological benefits.Scientific management of bamboo forest can not only effectively protect the ecological environment,also has a very important practical significance in exploiting its economic benefits.Therefore,how to improve its management technology level has been managers' focus.In this research,3D models of different growth state bamboo were made by OnyxTREE BAMBOO and 3DS MAX,and a moso bamboo forest visualision and spatial structure analysis system was developed by ArcEngine component technology and the C# programming language to provide technology and theoretical support for visual and precise moso bamboo stand management.This study chose moso bamboo stand in Tianmu Mountain National Nature Reserve,Zhejiang province,as a research object.A standard sample plot with size of 100m×100m was settled,and total station was used to measure the three dimensional coordinates of each moso bamboo.The diameter at breast height,bamboo height,height under branch and crown width and other factors of each bamboo were measured.Bamboo modeling method is that firstly the representative bamboo was selected in the plot to measure parameters including bamboo culm,branch,leaf and other needed parameters,then based on the survey data,the 3D models of different growth state bamboo were made by OnyxTREE BAMBOO and 3DS MAX.Woodland visualization method was that the corresponding 3D coordinates points was generated from 3D coordinates of each moso bamboo in system of moso bamboo forest visualision and spatial structure analysis.Then,irregular triangle net(TIN)was generated by contours which are generated by point interpolation of moso bamboo to simulate the forest terrain.To improve the authenticity of the woodland,the representative woodland surface of sample plot was selected to take photos and make woodland surface map in Photoshop,then woodland surface map after resampling and geographic registration was superposed on the TIN surface.Stand visualization was that 3D points of different growth status bamboo were replaced with corresponding moso models and overlay on the woodland model to realize the moso stand visualization.This research achieved good visual effect.The observer could not only overlook the whole bamboo stand,but also go into bamboo stand to see the specific growth states of moso bamboo intuitively including living,dead,standing,curving,broken and lodging,and so on,and the rolling woodland surface.The relevant information of each bamboo could be easily gained by clicking this bamboo,including height,diameter at breast height,crown width,height under branch,and other information.In addition,the real-time roaming in the bamboo forest could be realized and roaming animation could be is saved as a video format for output through the roaming and animate function of system.In this study,a set of complete visualization techniques for moso bamboo stand were presented and it had a good operability.Visualization technology being applied in the visual management of bamboo forest could not only reflect the current growth situation of moso bamboo stand,but also implement the spatial structure analysis of moso bamboo stand,and provide precision information for moso bamboo stand management.
