The Research On Wetland Park Planning And Design In Yellow River Detention Pond Areas

Known as the mother river in China,the Yellow River basin is the birthplace of the ancient Chinese civilization.There has been a long history of irrigation using the water from Yellow River.The sediment precipitation by the detention pond along the middle and lower branches is required to avoid blockage caused by the sediment blending in the river water.The detention pond has been built in large quantities and in huge size,however the surrounding scenic beauty is generally deprived by the hydraulic engineering,which results in the environment degradation and economic backwardness.Under the policy on national,provincial and local level,the environmental restoration is incorporated in the cities' comprehensive plan.The combination of hydraulic engineering and environmental upgrading becomes into the region's characters and landscape significance,contributes to the ecological restoration and preservation,and promotes sustainable development in terms of livability and prosperity.However the theory involved in this approach is lacking,while the planning and design is of excessive importance and urgency.This research analyzes the current situations,landscape elements,problems and tourists characters in the Yellow River detention pond region through literature review and field survey,and explores the strategies for wetland parks planning in the Yellow River detention pond region,without compromising the hydraulic performance based on the sustainable development theory and ecological engineering techniques in a human-friendly way.The results are summarized as follows.1)Through literature review and field survey,the major characters including distribution,functional structure,planning forms are analyzed and the landscape resources around the detention pond are summarized.The key problem and difficulties in planning the wetland park are emphasized.2)Through literature review and case studies in both home and abroad,methods and techniques in wetland park planning and design are summarized,which provides suggestions and insights in detention region preservation,development and design.3)Through survey,observation and talk,the tourists' characters and landscape perception are analyzed.Through significance and satisfaction evaluation,the factors influencing the landscape quality are analyzed.Combined with the situation problem analysis,the survey results and landscape condition are analyzed comprehensively.Thereafter the strategies for wetland parks planning are developed and provide guideline in practice.4)In combination with the needs for hydraulic functions,ecological functions,landscape functions and economic functions,etc.strategies coordinating ecology,esthetics,culture,human and function as togetherness are proposed including the strategy for comprehensive plan,the strategy for ecological landscape design featured by hydraulic process,the strategy for planting design to prevent wind and fix sand and the strategy to create culture landscape,the strategy to design recreational space and the strategy to plan functional urban facilities.5)Using the wetland park development in Weishan detention pond in Liaocheng,Shandong as the test-bed to exemplify the design strategies application in practice and explain the theory.This research integrates theory research and field survey,qualitative study and quantitative study,and proposes comprehensive strategies for wetland park planning and design with the goal of providing suggestions and demonstrations for detention pond region environmental restoration and sustainable development.
