With the rapid development of power electronic technology and successive of high-energy permanent magnet materials,the permanent magnet brushless dc motor is becoming more and more widely applied.At present,the engine air management motor is mostly brush dc motor which contains the brush and commutator.The structure is complex and can generate the spark and wearing which lead to motor short life.At the same time,the existence of the commutator also affects the motor dynamic performance.Compared with a brush dc motor,permanent magnet brushless dc motor is with slightly higher cost but with no brush and commutator.The simple structure does not produce electric spark and wearing which lead to a high efficiency,high reliability and long service life.According to the actual needs of enterprises,this paper designs and studies the permanent magnet brushless dc motor for automobile engine air management.As the temperature near the engine reaches +160 degC,Hall position sensor is difficult to withstand this high temperature,so this design is sensorless permanent magnet brushless DC motor which contains the motor body and control circuit,the main research object of this paper is the motor body.In this paper,the main dimensions of the motor are determined according to the installation dimensions in the engine,and then the electromagnetic proposal of the motor is determined according to the requirements of the torque and speed.The obtained size and electromagnetic parameters are input to the specialized motor design software Ansoft Rmxprt for further analysis.And then to use the electromagnetic field finite element analysis software Maxwell 2D to simulate and analyze the motor to obtain the corresponding analysis results to verify whether the design meets the requirements.Base on the results,to build the prototype motor samples and test to verify whether the test results meet the design requirements and also be compliant with simulation results.The test results show that the design can meet the requirements at key items no-load speed and stall torque.The results of temperature rise test show that the high-temperature torque is greater than the design requirement,and the temperature rise is within the range of insulation grade.It meets the engine air management with PMBLDC motor requirements.The conclusion of this paper is of great significance to the research of PMBLDC motor in the engine air management in automotive.
