The pantograph-catenary system is an important part of electrified rail transit, and its dynamic performance have a great impact on the stable current collection and safety of the train. With the increase of train operating speed and carrying capacity, the service environment of pantograph-catenary system becomes more complicated so that the catenary break down constantly and cause great trouble to the actual operation of the rail transit line. Therefore,In this paper the common failures of the catenary system are studied. The main contents are as follows:Firstly, the common failures of the catenary system are analyzed. The failure forms causes and effective measures to reduce the failure rate of the catenary system are summarized.Secondly,a modeling method for urban rail transit system is introduced. The finite element model of rigid catenary and the multi-rigid body model of TSG22 pantograph are established based on the multi-body system dynamics simulation platform. The basic theory of Hilbert-Huang Transform and Complementary Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition are introduced. Then, the modeling methods of four kinds of catenary failures, which are the disengagement of contact line, the tilt of rigid suspension, insulator shedding and intermediate joint failure, are put forward and the corresponding rigid contact models are established. The effect of these faults on the current quality of the pantograph-catenary system is studied by the simulation results. The components with fault characteristic scale are decomposed from contact force by CEEMD,and the fault characteristic frequency of pantograph-catenary contact force is extracted by Hilbert Spectrum and Hilbert Marginal Spectrum. Finally, the characteristic scale and frequency of the contact force at the joint of anchor segment are extracted and analyzed by Hilbert-Huang Transform and CEEMD based on the measured data of the pantograph-catenary system of subway line.
