A design of ballistic missile rapid erection system which can be placed in ordinary civilian transport equipment was presented in this paper, thereby increasing the viability of ballistic missiles, shortening the preparation time of the launch of ballistic missiles.Due to the limited space of ordinary civilian transport equipment, several compact layouts of ballistic missile erector were proposed. Two preferred designs were adopted after screening: setting hydraulic system or gas boosters in front of the launch canister as an auxiliary erection mechanism. Then the structural design for two options was produced to further increase the integrity of the erection mechanism. The software Pro/Engineer was applied to modeling two designs, wherein the parts module was used to draw 3D model of each part and the assembly module was used to assemble the parts. The ADAMS virtual prototyping technology was applied to implement dynamics modeling and simulation.By setting reasonable parameters and loading function of the hydraulic power system, dynamics simulations for two designs in three conditions were conducted. Finally, the curves of launch canister centroid's displacement in the X,Y,Z direction, the curves of centroid's co-displacement,velocity,acceleration,angular velocity, angular acceleration and the force curve of launch canister trunnion were output.Analysis on each curve's characteristics and parameters was made. After comparison of the two designs, for the force of launch canister trunnion, the design that setting hydraulic system in front of the launch canister as an auxiliary erection mechanism was larger than setting gas boosters, and the longer the erecting time was,the closer the peaks of trunnion force of the two designs were. Thus, the conclusion that the use of gas booster as an auxiliary erection mechanism is more conducive to the rapid erection of ballistic missiles can be drawn.
