The climate is hot and humid in summer in the mid-lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The high relative humidity significantly affects indoor air quality, human comfort and building safety.People create a healthy and comfortable environment by air-conditioning systems, which consumes lots of energy. In the last decade, the building energy consumption accounts for 20%to 25%of the total energy consumption in China, and the heating and air-conditioning energy consumption accounts for about 50%of the building energy. Therefore, reducing air-conditioning energy consumption is one of the primary goals for building energy efficiency design. The moisture buffering of the porous material can delay the fluctuation of the indoor relative humidity, affecting the latent heat load.It is a kind of passive energy-saving technology There are kinds of indoor porous materials, including wood, plasterboard, textiles, paper and so on.At present, scholars mainly focus on the moisture buffering of indoor building materials, and ignore the moisture buffering effects of home textiles on the indoor moisture conditions. This thesis studies the moisture buffering effects of home textiles on the indoor moisture conditions through experimental research and software simulation. The experimental research determines the moisture property of home textiles from their rate and moisture absorption and desorption.Firstly,14 kinds of home textiles used in Nanjing city were obtained by survey.Secondly, the absorption and desorption rates, moisture permeability coefficients, sorption isotherms, and moisture buffer values were studied in the phytotron.the experimental results were compared with indoor building materials(wood and gypsum board)to provide data support for the practical application of home textiles.Partial results show that the moisture ability of home textiles is primarily influenced by the composition of the material itself.Silk, cotton, and viscose fibers all have good moisture absorption properties. The moisture content of silk batting is 0.2~2 times that of wood,s2~4 times that of the gypsum board. The silk moisture buffering capacity is about 7 times that of the gypsum board. The quilt and the wood’s moisture buffering ability are not much different, which is about 6 times that of the gypsum board. The software simulation based on the experiment simulate the moisture buffering effects of home textiles on the indoor moisture conditions and air-conditioning energy consumption by EnergyPlus software.Using a real-life bedroom as a model, the actual moisture buffering effect of home textiles and the deviation rate of air-conditioning energy consumption calculations was described through "actual working conditions";the moisture effects of the same thickness of wood and home textiles on the indoor moistures conditions was described through "ideal conditions" to study the moisture buffering potential of home textiles; Finally, the effect of textiles quantity and indoor ventilation times on moisture buffering are simulated to study the best moisture buffering conditions of home textiles.Partial results show that the home textiles can effectively suppress the fluctuation of indoor relative humidity. When the textiles in the bedroom are quilts(tiled),curtains(unfolded state)and wallpaper, the air-conditioning energy consumption decreased by 8.5%from May to September,of which air-conditioning energy consumption decreased by 15.3%in July and August.
