The uniaxial Bouc-Wen model has been widely used in simulation to simulate material, components and structures' hysteretic response, but seldom used in multi-dimensional analysis. In this paper, the uniaxial Bouc-Wen model is expanded to multi-dimensional hysteretic model. The main work and results are as follows:(1)The parameters of the uniaxial Bouc-Wen model are analyzed. Then two identification algorithms are compared considerting their advantages and disadvantages, which offers reference to the parameters selection and parameters identification method selection.(2)By considerting the phenomenological description, the uniaxial Bouc-Wen model is expanded into multi-dimensional expression, introducing the J2 yield criterion, associative flow rule and kinematic hardening rule to describe nonlinear strain-stress relationship, which improves its application scope. The hysteretic finite element, such as truss element, plane stress element and 3D solid element is proposed by incorporating the multi-dimensional Bouc-Wen constitutive model.(3)The explicit integration method are used to calculate the stress increment of the Bouc-Wen model.Compared with bilinear model, the multi-dimensional Bouc-Wen model has advantages in computational efficiency.(4)The Bouc-Wen model with strength degradation and stiffness deterioration is introduced. And which method to calculate the stress increment is determined.(5)The Newton iteration method and average acceleration method are used to analysis static and dynamic problems of structures, which is benefit to integrate to other finite element software platform. The finite element analysis is carried out by using MATLAB program of Bouc-Wen model, using the GiD software to post processing the finite element mesh and visualization of calculation results.(6)The Bouc-Wen model and bilinear model are used respectively to simulate the response of the structure under external excitation.Simulation results show that the proposed multiaxial Bouc-Wen can be efficiently used in static,pseudo-static and dynamic nonlinear time history analysis.
