Tidal current energy is a kind of clean and renewable energy with great potential.Due to its great potential,like less pollution and huge reserves has attracted great attention of many countries.The support structures of tidal current generators which are working all over the world have three main fixed forms: seabed mounted system,pile mounted system and floating moored system.Floating moored system is popular due to its convenient installation and maintenance.Tidal power station works at a fixed place for a long time exposing to the waves,flows winds and turbines.So it is strict to select the configuration of tidal power station,and some performance should be improved.Also there is few data of a floating power station which has both tidal turbine and wind turbine on it.In view of the particular project demand,in this article a new kind of box girder floating structure has been presented.The structure has to be moored at the working waters with both tidal turbine and wind turbine on it.The hydrodynamic performance and structure strength have been investigated.The main works in this paper include:(1)The achievement of tidal energy and offshore wind energy has been systematically reviewed and summarized in trend domestically and internationally.(2)Three cylinder and four cylinder type floating structures are selected as two schemes.Hydrodynamic performance of the two schemes is analyzed and compared by using the hydrodynamic software ANSYS AQWA.As a result the comprehensive performance of the four cylinder type structure is proud to be better than the other.The four cylinder type structure is decided as the preliminary scheme.(3)According to the preliminary scheme,the floating structure is setted base on the sea conditions of the working waters,design requirements and regulations.(4)The finite element model is modeled through ANSYS.The loads are calculated which include wind,wave,current and turbines produced load.12 environmental load combinations are obtained.The numerical simulation of the 12 conditions is done by ANSYS.Structure strength and deflection are analyzed.(5)The frequency domain performance is calculated.A preliminary mooring system is designed.A long time domain motion is calculated by using AQWA-NAUT module under ANSYS AQWA.Hydrodynamic performance of the floating structure is checked.Structure strength and hydrodynamic performance of a new kind of box girder floating structure has been analyzed.In this paper.The result show that the structure satisfied the rule and use requirements.
