In recent years, with the rapid economic growth, the vehicle becomes an important transportation tool for more and more families. The car ownership increases year by year in China. The increase of car ownership facilitates people’s lives, but brings a series of social problems. The traffic accident has become a serious public security issue. One of the high frequency traffic accidents is car-to-car frontal crashes, which happened most frequently and caused the greatest number of casualties.Nowadays, vehicle safety design is mainly based on 100%overlap frontal impact and 40%overlap offset impact, there is less research on the oblique crash especially car-to-car oblique crash. For exploring the injury risk of the driver in oblique crash,a finite element vehicle which was reliable was used to develop car to car oblique collision in different impact angle. The main content of this dissertation are shown as following:1.A full car finite element models was used to conduct car-to-car crash simulation, including 15°oblique crash、30°oblique crash、45° oblique crash and 100%overlap frontal impact. The driving area and occupant restraint system models of this car were established and validated.2.The deformation characteristics of the vehicle body and the key components under various working conditions were compared, and the damage of the driver was simulated by the restraint system model. The results show that the risk of damage to the driver is larger at 30° oblique crash, and the dummy of different size was used to study the damage characteristics of the driver of different size under the condition.3.Hyperstudy software was used optimize the parameters of the restraint system for the driver of the greater risk of damage in the 30° oblique crash using the surrogate model, the car restraint system on the driver’s protective effect has been significantly improved. The results of the study show that, compared with the full width of the collision oblique crash will cause a larger amount of invasion, because only part of the front of the car involved the collision.30° oblique crash is a relatively dangerous condition and the driver of larger size has a high risk of head and lower limb injury, the driver of smaller size has higher risk of chest injury.
