| Drinking water safety is a major issue related to national health and safety.As the chlorination method in drinking water disinfection process will be used for a long time in our country,drinking water safety issues of a variety of disinfection by-products(Disinfection By-products,DBPs)caused by residual chlorine cannot be ignored.And the development of China’s domestic water purifier market is based on this background.At present,there have been a variety of activated carbon water purifiers on the domestic market,while the actual operating effects of these water filters are often uneven.Filter cartridge as the core of the water purifier has many problems such as short service life,poor processing effect and frequent replacement,making high cost in the use of household water purifier,which is not conducive to the further promotion of household water purifier market.In view of this,this paper uses activated carbon as the raw material which is dominate in activated carbon market to fabricated the activated carbon filter by three different fabrication processes:conventional(granular),sintered and extruded process,then investigates the residual chlorine removal effect and service life of different filter,and compares the production cost finally.This paper aims to explore a more economical and environmentally friendly household water purifier filter to achieve the purpose of efficient removal of chlorine in the water to protect the safety and health of drinking water.The main research results are as follows:(1)The adsorption effect of activated carbon filter manufactured with toner particles of different thickness and different fabrication processes is uneven.When some products are in the installation,its removal effect is less than 50%.The good control of toner raw materials and making process will effectively improve the adsorption effect of the activated carbon filter on residual chlorine and other contaminants.(2)When injecting sample of 205 gallons with conventional activated carbon filter in size of 20 × 40,the removal rate of residual chlorine is 15.06%,and with the filter size of 40 × 80 and the injection of 4082 gallons,the removal rate of residual chlorine is 62.50%;when injecting sample of 10,000 gallons with sintered activated carbon filter in size of 30 × 200 and 80 × 325,the residual chlorine removal rate is88.23% and 98.58%;when injecting sample of 10,000 gallons with extruded activatedcarbon filter in size of 30 × 200 and 80 × 325,the removal rate of residual chlorine is88.85% and 98.80%.Extruded filter of small particles has a better residual chlorine adsorption effect when compared to activated carbon filter produced by other production process.(3)When injecting sample of 2600 gallons with conventional activated carbon filter in size of 20 × 40 and 40 × 80,the removal rate of COD is 18.60% and 23.90%,which is lower than 25% of the requirements;when injecting sample of 7500 gallons with sintered filter in size of 30 × 200,80 × 325 and with extruded filter in the same size,the COD removal rate of is 42.81%,48.63%,49.33% and 49.78% respectively.(4)When using conventional activated carbon filter in size of 20 × 40 to remove carbon monoxide,the removal rate as 68% is less than 80% of the requirements in installation test,and with the conventional filter size of 40 × 80 and the injection of1000 gallons,the removal rate as 66% is also lower than 80%;when injecting sample of 7500 gallons with sintered filter in size of 30 × 200,80 × 325 and with extruded filter in same size,the removal rate of carbon trichloride is 91.30%,98.80% 92.30%and 99.00% respectively.(5)When injecting sample of 200 gallons with conventional activated carbon filter in size of 20 × 40,the removal rate of carbon tetrachloride is 73.20%,with the same filter size in injection of 2600 gallons,the removal rate is 89.10% close to requirements;when injecting sample of 7500 gallons with sintered filter in size of 30× 200,80 × 325 and with extruded filter in same size,the removal rate of carbon tetrachloride is 94.50%,99.20%,96.30% and 99.30% respectively.(6)Through the comparative analysis of technical and economic,it is suggested that the use of fine granular activated carbon and extrusion process can not only improve the removal efficiency of residual chlorine,COD,chloroform and carbon tetrachloride,but also maximize the economic benefit. |
