Asphalt binders and asphalt mixtures have become the main materials for road pavement construciton at home and abroad due to their good performance and comfortablity for road users.Premature failuring such as low temperature cracking,fatigue,rutting,ravering due to aging of asphalt binders,the actual service life of asphalt pavement is by far less than the design life of asphalt pavement.In recent years,many scholars dedicated their study to aging of asphalt binders and asphalt mixtures,mainly those of thermal and oxidation caused aging.This project mainly discussed the performance of asphalt mixtures after a weathering process.AC-13 and SMA-13 were designed and used for this project.Thees asphalt mixtures were aged for 0,1000,2000 and 3000 hours,respectively,in a accelerated weathering machine(AWM),and subsequently,the performance tests of high temperature dynamic stability,low temperature bending creep,freeze-thaw splitting and fatigue.The mixtures were also aged by SHRP mixture aging process,i.e.,the short and long-term aging.In addition,Abson method was followed to extract and recovery aged asphalt binders.The results showed that: 1)the short-term aging degree by a SHRP process was equivalent to that about 240 hours by AWM,and the long-term aging degree by a SHRP is about that about 2100 hours by AWM.2)the performance of AC-13 asphalt mixture decreased with the increase of ultraviolet intensity used in the AWM.3)the aging degree by RTFOT is approximately equal to that of 0 hour by AWM.4)the aging degree by RTFOT+PAV is equivalent to that of 2400 hours aging in AWM.5)with the increase of weathering time,the degree of attenuation performance of asphalt asphalt mixtures increases,high temperature ruting resistance,and stiffness modulus value increased,while the low temperature performance of flexural strength,splitting strength ratio and fatigue number showed a decreasing trend.
