With the development of modern building technology and increasing strong requirements of large span space,more and more large span structures emerged and are becoming more and more complex or stretching larger span.In this paper,spatial pipe-truss structure of the roof of Dongli gymnasium is taken as the object of the study.The concept and application of bionics,static and dynamic mechanical properties,construction scheme are studied in detail in this paper.The results of the research can also provide experience and reference to the design and analysis of the similar projects in the future.In this paper,the application of bionics into building structures is discussed.The conception and characteristics of bionics are stated and then the meaning and classification of bio-architecture are discussed.Besides,the engineering applications of different kinds of bio-architectures are presented.This project is one of the typical buildings that adopt the concept of bio-configuration.The roof of the spatial steel structure will experience a relatively severe temperature changes under the effect of solar radiation.The static mechanical properties of the structure are analyzed.Then the performance of the structure under the action of extreme temperature is also studied and compared.The study shows that the stress level of the structure shows a trend of increase under the effect of extreme temperature.The stress ratio of several members even goes exceed 1.0 which is very serious for the safety of the structure.As for the vertical displacement,the reverse deflection has an increasing trend.The reaction force of the support also appears to be increased and part of the foot of the arch increased nearly 20 percent.As a whole,considering the extreme temperature has great disadvantage on the safety of the structure.Self-vibration characteristic of the structure is studied,which shows that the structure has a good global stiffness and the mass distribution of the whole structure is reasonable.Based on the research of self-vibration characteristic of the structure,time history analysis for the steel roof is also carried out under the seismic action considering 3 seismic waves.Under the seismic action,the deformation of the structure can meet the requirement,which also shows the good stiffness distribution.The internal force fluctuated during the earthquake analysis and the stress level can meet the requirements of the specification.The processing and manufacturing plan of steel members and the construction scheme of the whole steel roof are studied.The mechanical properties of the key process during the construction are analyzed.The construction steps and lifting scheme of main trusses,ring trusses and secondary trusses are stated in detail.The result of the analysis shows that the construction scheme adopted in the paper is reasonable and quite right.
