With the proposed energy-saving emission reduction,lightweight has become the direction of the development of vehicle.Composite materials are widely used in automobile,rail transportation and so on due to that they not only have excellent mechanical properties,but also have lighter quality compared with other materials.And the most commonly used material in the automotive interior decoration is glass fiber reinforced PP.However,glass fiber reinforced PP has some defect,such as poor flame retardancy and aging,in the long period application of glass fiber reinforced PP,there not only has the hidden of fire disaster,but also effect the beauty of productions that made of glass fiber reinforced PP.Basalt fiber is a new kind of inorganic fiber that has excellent properties.Compared with glass fiber,it not only has excellent mechanical properties,but also has the advantages of low cost and the wide source of raw materials.On the basis of previous research of basalt fiber reinforced PP,the flame retardancy,aging properties and stiffness of basalt fiber reinforced PP are researched and the content of this paper is comprehensively discussion as follows:Firstly,the flame retardancy properties of basalt fiber reinforced PP composites are studied by a series of experiments.The results show that the basalt fiber has potential advantages in improving the flame retardancy of PP,and the mechanism of basalt fiber in improving the flame retardancy of PP is discussed comprehensively.Secondly,in this paper the stiffness of car door trim made of basalt fiber reinforced PP is researched,then the result is compared with the finite element simulation.The results show that the addition of basalt fiber can effectively improve the stiffness of car door trim,and the test results are in good agreement with the finite element analysis,which lays a foundation that using finite element simulation to analyze the properties of basalt fiber reinforced PP.Thirdly,the effect of basalt fiber on thermal aging resistance and photoaging resistance of PP is studied.At the same time,the influence of temperature alternating on the size of interior trim panel is also studied.The results show that basalt fiber could improve the mechanical properties of PP and basalt fiber reinforced PP after 300h test.In addition,the influence of basalt fiber on the mechanical properties of PP is also analyzed,and the results show that the addition of basalt fiber could improve the mechanical properties of PP,but the toughness of PP become worse.Last the temperature alternating test shows that the addition of basalt fiber can improve the dimensional stability of PP interior trim.
