The increasingly-developing Distributed Generation(DG)technology has become a new effective method of solving the environmental pollution and energy issues. When placed into the distribution networks,DG will influence the network structure, power flow distribution,short-circuit current and relay protection reliability of the distribution networks. These issues are directly related to the site and capacity of DG in the distribution networks.Consequently,it is of great practical significance to study the rational selection of site and capacity of DG.The planning on locating and sizing of DG is a multi-objective optimization problem. In this thesis, the maximum capacity of DG to be established is determined in accordance with the total load. Then, the economic indicators, including minimum power loss, lowest power grid construction and operation & maintenance cost, lowest DG investment and operation & maintenance cost, are established as the objective function for locating and sizing of DG under the condition that the number, location and single capacity of DG are uncertain.Next, the genetic algorithm is introduced into the locating and sizing of DG.Considering the characteristics of DG planning and deficiencies in genetic algorithm, the genetic population in the genetic algorithm is repaired. In addition, improvement is made on the reproduction operator, crossover operator and mutation operator for the purpose of improving the optimization capability and calculation speed of genetic algorithm in locating and sizing of DG.Afterwards,IEEE33 system is adopted to verify the rationality of DG locating and sizing model and the effectiveness of improved genetic algorithm proposed in this thesis. Finally, the method in the thesis is applied to solve the planning issue of DG locating and sizing in some 24-node distribution network in Xilin Gol region and feasible planning scheme is presented.
