Research On Exterior Space Morphology Of The Market-town Around Sichuan Basin

Taking the morphology of the typical settlements around Sichuan Basin as a study case,this Thesis mainly discusses the morphology of regional settlements and its description methods.Unlike other areas of the country,traditional settlements around Sichuan Basin are mostly in the form of "Market-Town",which is a result of the regional cultural consciousness under certain historical background.Due to its various representation and profound content,the morphology of the Market-town becomes a perfect textbook about the settlements around Sichuan Basin and its culture,and a entry point that we could start with.Based on the theory of urban morphology and the stuty of traditional buildings of southwest China,this Thesis focuses on the hierarchical construction and the association of morphological description.The main body of the Thesis consists of three parts:1.The background and influencing factors of the Market-town around Sichuan Basin at the macro level.2.A new method of describing the exterior space morphology of the market-town.3.Case study using the describing method above.The main purpose of this Thesis is to improve the morphology describing method of the settlements in Sichuan and Chongqing province,to expand the scope of traditional market-town research,and to draw the valuable experience of the tradition for the actual design.This paper contains about 56000 words and 100 illustrations.
