Seismic Behavior Of All-steel Self-centering Buckling Restrained Brace

The buckling restrained brace has good seismic performance.It can resist the seismic action by its own strength and stiffness,which leads to its failure to return to its initial position automatically after yielding.Displacement based seismic design is required to ensure the safety of the main structural members under a certain limit.Therefore,it is significance to develop a kind of self-centering buckling restrained brace,which can not only dissipate the seismic energy,but also reduce the residual deformation.In this paper,a new type of all-steel self-centering buckling restrained brace(SCBRB)is developed.The performance of SCBRB were studied using the methods of experimental study and numerical simulation analysis.And the preliminary design methods of SBRBR were summarized,then the design examples were given.The main research contents of this article were summarized as follows:Frist,a new kind of SCBRB were put forward.The composition of the structure and assembly methods of SCBRB are described.And then.SCBRBs were manufactured to do the quasi-static cyclic test,the hysteretic energy dissipation capacity residual deformation of SCBRB were studied.The test results showed that the structure of SCBRB is rational,the performance of self-centering is well,but the hysteretic energy dissipation capacity is slightly weak.Secondary,the numerical simulation analysis of SCBRB was carried out using the software ABAQUS,then the results of numerical simulation analysis and experimental study were compared to research the feasibility of using numerical simulation method to study the working performance of SCBRB.The study results showed that: the hysteretic curves got through numerical simulation matched well with the test results;the performance ratios of SCBRB got through simulation has only a little difference with the test result,showed that using the numerical method to study the working performance of PPBRB is feasible.The next,the main parameters of SCBRB was carried out using the software ABAQUS,respectively choosing the thickness of the force plate,the area of reset reinforcement,the initial prestress,the material of reset reinforcement as the parameters.The study results showed that: Must control the thickness of force plate to prevent the emergence of plastic deformation;increasing the area of reset reinforcement can weak the ability of the hysteretic energy dissipation capacity,while self-centering performance are not significantly affected;increasing the initial prestress can greatly enhance the ability of the self-centering and weak the ability of the hysteretic energy dissipation capacity,but reinforcement still set to low initial prestress in actual engineering,When the inner core is yielding,the restoring force is equal to the yield bearing capacity of the inner core';SMA as the reset reinforcement will increase the ability of the hysteretic energy dissipation capacity,but has little effect on the self-centering.Final,the design methods of new all-steel self-centering buckling-restrained brace were summarized,it includes the following aspects: buckling restrained brace,self-centering system,the bearing capacity of support and transition and connection section,and design examples of the brace were given,thus to provide certain reference of the design and application of new all-steel self-centering buckling-restrained brace.
