Increasingly importance has been attached to the strategic position of Western China because of "The Belt and Road" strategy.There are many high altitude areas in the western region and the environment there is different from it in inner areas,low temperature,rainfall is frequent.So,many difficulties would be faced when building roads in the region.Common diseases in the areas are cracks,peeling,pumping,the ruts in not common there.What's more,the correlation between partial evaluated indexes from routine tests and actual pavement performance.Therefore,study on the asphalt material and evaluate the pavement performance means a lot.Based on preliminary investigation and laboratory test,this paper will study on the modified asphalt materials which are: SBS,rubber,tans-polyethylene rubber(TOR).Systematic experiments are carried out,the main research results are:(1)Summarized the road damage mechanism in the areas,found that cracks are the main forms because of the insufficient of the stress relaxation ability.(2)Modified the 110# asphalt through 3 kinds of modifiers,applied traditional index tests on them which are three indicators,elastic recovery,toughness,mass loss tests.Preliminary analysis was carried out after that.(3)Applied dynamic shear rheological test(DSR)on 4 kinds of asphalt,high temperature ability,fatigue ability,temperature sensitivity,phase structure was analyzed through viscoelastic data,and the master curves were established of the 4 kinds of asphalts.(4)The low temperature performances were tested trough bending beam rheometer(BBR)tests,stiffness and m-value were carried out to evaluate the low temperature abilities,besides,Burgers model was established and the four viscoelastic parameters of the model are calculated.(5)Asphalt mixture tests were applied based on AC-13 gradation,high-temperature performance,low-temperature performance,water stability,fatigue performance were included,and analyzed the results.This paper found that the asphalt tests result is not the same as the mixture test results entirely.So,comprehensive analysis was applied on the indexes and found out the best modifier under a certain index.At last,the most suitable modifier was found out combined with the actual environment of the loactain of engineering.
